Sorry Sue but I will not be able to join in. I am pretty busy and cannot guarantee to meet the rules for the swaps.
I always follow the trades and feel sorry not to be able to join. On the other hand it inspires me do something with the subject when I find some time.
This trade for me is so unique, because the 60's were my teenage years. You inspired me already to search the internet for memories like music, movies, fashion etc. and my head is even fuller now with plans for future drawings.
Frithy
i HAD BRIGHT rED KNEE HIGH BOOTS AND WHITE MINI SKIRTS, i DID A LOT OF MACREME , AH WHAT FUN IT WAS, i WONDER WHAT i WOULD LOOK LIKE IN THOSE CLOTHS NOW( HA! HA! hA!) i AM GLAD THAT THERE A FEW OF US THST ARE GAME TO GO TO VEGAS TO HAVE A 60'S IN.

Was it in the 60's that the fun of streaking started or was that alter?

Sue and other trade members - I am sorry to say that I need to withdraw from this trade. My husband's medical issues have gotten to a point in the last couple of days that they need to be aggressively dealt with. This means doctors, physical therapy, pain clinics, on and on and on. I don't feel at this point that I could be a good trader. Maybe by the next one, I'll have him back on the straight and narrow.

However... I already have completed three cards. With the agreement of those on the thread and with Paulette's permission, I would like to send them to the youngest member of this group - William! If that's ok with everyone, I'll go ahead and get them in the mail.

Again my apologies, I hope to be participating again soon.
kim1963
sorry to hear about your husband hun ... please by all means take care of him ..family comes first with everything in my life . and I have no problem who you send your cards to smile.gif

You certainly have my permission.
I am so sorry your husband is doing poorly.
I hope he gets better quickly and with not too much pain.
Don't forget to take care of yourself too.

Cees, glad to have you follow along, even if you can't join in. Appreciate your comments and memories.

Sandra, take care of him, and yourself, I hope that his recovery goes well. I am very happy that you will be sending cards to William, and that his first ATC swap will start so quickly. Please pop in whenever your heavy timetable allows, for a chat and laugh to help lighten your load. Good luck with it all.

I think streaking hit the big-time in the '70s Gretchen. I remember that was when almost every Cricket International had to stop for a streaker.

I can remember that as kids Mum used to make MuMu's for us to wear to the beach....they were A shaped dresses with huge flower patterns on them and she used to stitch a braid with pom-poms on it onto the hemline. We loved them at 8 yrs old, when I think of them now yuk!
Jangra
I have 9 cards finished so if we don't get any more people signed on, I am done.
ncgirl
Thanks to all for good wishes and understanding. I'll get William's cards out as soon as I can. I'll pop in here too when time allows. You guys have fun and watch out for those streakers! tongue.gif

I believe it was! Of course, I still enjoy a good streak now, but I'm not as nimble as I used to be... smile.gif

Steve I guess if you've slowed down, everyone can see what you are streaking.

I just posted the last of my 60s cards on my blog. Now I just wait and see if more are added. It was fun working all "colorful"

I remember my aunt in short skirts and high boots,..she was so pretty..
I remember another aunt always had the teased up hair and the bee hive, i used to watch her 'tease' her hair in the mirror..I never did quite understand why someone would do that to their hair, lol

I am also sorry sandy to hear of your hubby, take care of him, you'll need him to swat flies while you watch for the bear wink.gif biggrin.gif

I tried to leave you a comment on your Blog ,it wouldn't go thru.. so I'll reply here.. Hope no one gets bored..
I had forgot about those platform boots.. My brother worked at a shoe store a long time ago and bought me a pair just because he loved me (Cough Cough) ,, Any way I wore them to a movie. It was called Earthquake.. Well they were trying out this new Sensor Sound and when a scene would come up where the earth was shaking it felt like you were there.. right in the middle of it.. Well I was walking down the aisle going to get some snacks at the Concession and about the time I was half way there .. The earth began to move .. well it felt like it.. those Platforms caused me to lose my balance and I fell in to a guys chair.. I was so embarrassed.. I thought ..my brother is in Big trouble !! Had this sneaky feeling he did that on purpose.. He knew what a Dork I was.. so gullible..
*Roxy*
lol funny story.

Well I just started on my first card I hope it doesn't look too too bad because i'm trying to draw a person. And I'm not used to drawing people so I hope I won't ruin the picture
*Roxy*
Well here's my first card. I hope it's not too too bad. I tried. I have a hard time drawing people. It sucks because I want to draw a picture of me and my boyfriend for a gift to him and I'm not sure i'll be able to. But anyways this is supposed to be Twiggy she was a model in the 60's I believe. I hope it at least looks a bit like her...

Blogger won't let you comment without joining. That's why I have a blog. I wanted to comment on someones. Now my blog is 3 yrs old.

That's a funny story. I bet the guy didn't mind you landing on his lap.

When I was in my 20s, I worked at a bank. Near the first of the month it was really busy. The line was stretched almost the length of the building, out the door, and down the sidewalk. I was coming back from lunch and was midway thru the bank. I had some of those shoes that had those little 1-inch flared heels. My foot slipped and I ended up on one knee, popped back up and kept walking. Soooo, soooo embarrassing. And not one person reacted to help me, or ask if I was ok. And in those days, we had to wear dresses. It was the 70s so the dresses weren't real long (mine weren't real short either), but just imagine the picture would have made if I hadn't been abel to bounce back up.. Come to think of it, that's the knee I had replaced 2 yrs ago.
kim1963
I remember twiggy lol she was a very gauntly girl .. as i recall her eyes were just like that very big and wide set .
I will try to scan mine today and show mine ..they are all done just waitinbg to send out .

do we still have only the 9 ....I do not care for the long wait .. I think the two weeks is just too long ..I liked it better before and if cards could not get in on time then it seems they would just try harder to get them in next time instead of making us wait sooo long to build a list then send out .its like we are being punished for others being late and no shows .
TrishO116
Twiggy....she is who we point the finger at when lamenting the "model thin" image that all young girls emulate. She, and other models, is the reason so many people are anorexic and bulemic. I believe she was the innovator as far as that ultra thin look, unfortunately, the fashion industry latched onto her body type and has never looked back.
Songsparrow
Curiously! She is still around and appearing in TV adverts for clothing here in the UK. She hasn't changed much in 40 years! smile.gif
kim1963
I have all my cards done and scanned ...these are the images I remember out of the 60s....I was born in the 60s but no stranger to what bled into the 70s .

The sonny and cher comedy hour started in the late 60s ..one of my most fav shows of all time .
everyone reme, bers the famous sticker of the peace sign in flag .
Barbie in the early and late 60s
and remember when making clothes was cheaper then buying them ..a old 60s patteren for a mini dress or shorts .
the GOGO boots .. white with or without the long zipper .
anyone remeber Formica tables with those bright color vynal chairs and chrome .. I loved those .
Schwinn banana seats ...had one of those as well ..they came out i think late 60s
then the weed ...pot ...reefer..joints ect whatever they use to call it ..but the big pot smoking era .
oliverandjazz
omg..Kim, I loved sonny and cher, she was my idol as a little girl with all of her long lovely hair, and sonny so handsome, and i really like the lil girl chastity as she was slightly younger than me i think, but i remember her white hair..she was soo cute,
then i was watching t.v. the other night and she is no longer chastitiy but 'CHAS' *sigh* Wow, how time flies and 'things change'..pun intended..lol..

those cards of course are awesome Kim.

today i feel good..like the song, is that one from the 60's?

I feel good..na na na na na, like i knew that i would ...na na na na na..

I also remember watching my mother jitter bug, which always made me laugh and makes me smile now thinking about it..I bet she would still jitter bug if someone asked her laugh.gif
TrishO116
How many are in the trade? I didn't get the addresses, did I miss something?
oliverandjazz

its still called all of the above, with a few more thrown in..designer names they use now adays..it cracks me up laugh.gif biggrin.gif

I dont think that will ever go out of style.. wink.gif
kim1963
ten and nine cards to be made ...the addresses are not in yet ...sad.gif its two weeks this time .
Jangra
Nice ones Kim. I remember wearing those empire waistline, align dresses.

The 2 weeks sign up / thinking time was decided between Kay and I as an experiment..............we discussed a break between swaps but thought that we may lose the interest of some people - or people may not find the swap at the right time and miss out, if we had a break. Some people want to join in most swaps but find the closeness of the swaps difficult................have to try and get a happy medium somehow............. blush.gif

If people would prefer to have a week with no swap and then a week for the next sign up let Kay or I know..........if you enjoy the banter and tossing of ideas around during the 2 week sign up let us know too. Trying to get the ideal timing to suit everyone is hard, so please comment on this with your ideas. It can only help any of us who do some hosting to get the mix right.

What is a "chad" ???? Obviously with our voting system we are missingout on all the "fun" - I mean over here it is compulsory to vote and I think we need more to whinge about than just the candidates and long lines LOL!!!

Sue,
In certain locations in the state of Florida voting was done by old fashioned punch card ballots. The little piece of card that was punched out was called a chad. In some cases the chad did not detach from the card, thus, a hanging chad, in other cases, the chad had an indentation on it, but did not detach from the card, thus, a dimpled chad. There were huge legal battles about how these votes could be interpreted. Did the person intend to vote for that person and then change their mind, as in the dimpled chad, I never could see how the hanging chad left any room for interpretation, but it did! It was a circus here, and most of the stories about how people were deliberately directed to the wrong polling place, how road blocks leading to polling places turned away voters who were black, Hispanic and then there was stories of finding boxes of ballots in a parking lot, where they came from, how they got there is anyone's guess. My daughter's friend was denied the right to vote, they claimed they did not have him as registered. There is a law in place for such cases, there is a judge on call to act in such cases so no one is denied their right to vote, but he was not offered any alternative, and they threatened to have him removed from the polling place by the police.
A lot of the stories did not come out in the press. We all know what the outcome was, and GW Bush will have an asterisk after his name as he was not elected but appointed to the Presidency by the Supreme Court.
Just as a side note, when GW Bush won the legal battle and was made president I went on Lexapro (anti-depression medication)! LOL
