I'm sorry folks, but I'll give this one a pass. I seem to have missed out on all that was going on in the 60's. I got married in 1960, had a son in 1961, another one in 1965 and then my daughter in 1967. My 60's consisted of babies, prams, bottles and toddlers - so much for the swinging 60's! I'll be watching to see what I missed!

Roxy, you'll do great - I was born in 1962, so was very young during the '60s but there are some impressions even on my young mind. And one of my favorite artists was quite active then, so maybe I can do a couple of tribute cards. Nancy, welcome, I think you'll enjoy this!

The 60s were my times. And Kay yes I remember the music and it is my favorite. That's why they called them the golden oldies. You won't find rap and stuff as oldies I'm sure. I love going into the dollartree store as they are playing 60s tunes and I can sing along with them. (Not out loud tho)
Count me in. I graduated high school in 1967 when Norma's last child was born. Thankfully I was too young for the Free love stuff. And no drugs for me. But the music, bell bottoms, shift dresses, flower power flowers, well I was all over that.
Sue shame on you. I was going to take a break this time but you knew just what to do as theme to draw me in. lol

I am not sure I could draw something about the '60s. I graduated high school in '66, and lived my teen years in the '60s.....Aw heck, you talked me into it...
Please add me to the list.

Trish we are close in age so I know you can do it. Just Google the 60s, hippies, flower power, etc. I got lots of ideas. I could do the whole thing on just songs of the 60s. But there are also 60s singers, tv shows, actors, clothes, etc.

I said to myself .. no time for a trade this month and then you come up with a 60s ...ohhh so tempting ....I think I will have to join this one .. I love the 60s they were so far out .lol

I was planning to join this one, but since it is the 60's, I'm going to sit it out and let people who remember it have spots. I was born in the 60's but didn't get glasses to see the world until I was about 5, so I really missed that decade entirely. Have fun! I'll be watching eagerly to see what everyone does though, and see you for the trade after this one, which I am hosting.

Welcome
Nancy, I hope you enjoy your first ATC Trade and please don't hesitate to ask any questions if you have any.
Wow 8 people already!! This is shaping up to be a great trade! And I can't wait to see what everyone comes up with.
Oh and yes
Kay, I remember Rockin' Robin, and the Aussie songs like Shakin' All Over by Normie Rowe..........oh yes great music.
Now the big question - were you a Stones or Beatle fan?
*Roxy*
Jul 29 2009, 02:45 PM
Thank you Shanna for that website

I think it will help me alot considering I was born in 88 and this might be a hard trade for me but it'll be a good challenge

My son William has some inspiration for you guys.
He was very interested while I was doing the bird trade and even made drawings for a deck of cards while I was doing my birds. You can check them out on my blog.
When he heard there was a new trade he demanded to know what it was. Then he insisted I find some 1960's images. I sat him in front of Google and these are what he came up with.
Click to view attachmentHe also did a 1967 mustang fastback tonight.
Have fun with your trade!

I loved the Stones (but sorry Kim did not like Mick at all - the strutting coat hanger!) I loved the Bluesy music - liked some Beatles stuff more than others. I'm with you Steve I really liked 3 Dog Night - Mamma Told Me not to Come, and Never Been to Spain.......but I also loved Blood Sweat & Tears. I was a strange child.......in primary school in the 60's, and then when every other girl was swooning over icky stuff in the 70's I was into Alice Cooper, Pink Floyd............but I also loved Mozart and Beethoven ............like I said strange child.
Great job William.......I think your Mum should let you play with us if you want to. ????Paulette

William would like to join this trade as a child.
If any one does not want to trade with William please PM Sue and she can take your address off of his list.
I know there is a cost involved and explained this to William.
He will do his cards on better paper and take his time to do his best.

Welcome William! I hope you enjoy playing with us and making your cards. Don't be afraid to comment on here (if you cvan get Mum off the computer that is) and I am sure we can all make some wonderful cards to start your own ATC Album with.
Cees, I don't recall MUD, but then I wasn't into Glam Rock that much. But yes Kay I loved Cream, and of course CCR is one of my faves still. Kim I had Dock of the Bay running around in my head as I was reading the other posts ..........I am getting "ear-worms" from thinking of all these old favourites!

Boy just thinking of the music of the 60's, I think it must of been one of the richest decades music wise.(of course every generation probably feels the same way. ) Does anyone recall Laura Nyro, Joan Baez, Arlo Guthrie( Alice's Restaraunt), Tim Buckley, Mama's and Papas, The Supremes, the young Jackson Five. I don't think there wasn't a type of music I wasn't into back then. Of course I remember the evening news telling us about a group from England coming to the US called the Beatles, which back then was big because the evening news did not talk about such trivial things. I loved the Beatles but would have died for Mick Jagger( my girlfriend tells me he is so ugly.) The highlight of my teens was getting to see Blood Sweat and Tears in person with my friends. Oh those were the days my friends I thought they'd never end...........Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix

Nancy,
What a chain a memories this theme has generated! Does anyone remember Miriam Makeba? Harry Belafonte? Pete Seeger? to name just a few, and you know, back then, I thought I was of "odd taste in music", as these artist were not the superstar status of the others mentioned here. Not mainstreamed? Does anyone else feel this way?

Interestingly! A friend of mine used to be the sound mixer for Mud. (Mud was really the singer, Les Gray) The band would change when the old band got fed up with Mr Gray. He being a stand offish aloof kinda guy! I had a chance to play in the band as lead guitar! But turned it down because of the poor wages! Mud were a 70s band.
I was into some of the more obscure bands of the day! I remember the Guess Who (American Woman), Atomic Rooster (Tomorrow Night), Juicy Lucy, (Who Do You Love), My favourite band at the time was a very heavy metal band (Although it wasn't known as metal then!) called 'MAN' I was quite surprised to discover recently, that they are still going!

Guys! I'm gonna have to sit this trade out!. Just got too much on at present!

I don't remember Mud either. Since Steve does, maybe it was one European band that didn't cross the water.
I remember most of the others. Trish I knew about 2 that you mentioned but not the first one. Mamas and Papas were a favorite as well as Joan Baez, Peter, Paul, and Mary. The Cowsills, Turtles, the song Runaway, my Boyfriend's back, It's my party, Petula Clark's Downtown and I know a Place. Sack dresses, Empire waistlines, Shirtwaist dresses, gathered skirts, dresses with a low slung waistline like hip huggers. Pedal Pushers. No thong underwear but Thongs that later were renamed Flip Flops. Hula Hoops. The Singing Nun with "Dominique".
