Well I've been looking around for awhile to pick up on how to draw. I've never really been "good" at it so I'd easily get frustrated and/or give up on it. I've always heard practice and practice some more and it'll help you go further than doing nothing. Dunno what I'm getting at. But maybe I'll wont give up again.

Hello,
Everybody gets frustrated, no big deal there. How do you measure what "good" is? I've seen people buy paintings for thousands of dollars I wouldn't have bought for used canvas. But just because "I" didn't like them did mean they were not "good"? Don't pay much attention to terms like that. Clive Barker the horror writer said,"No matter what it is, somebody, somewhere will like it." I added, and somebody somehwere will not. So...please your self, make it something that you like or your happy with, but don't be affraid to show your work because you can get to the point where you only see what you may feel are your mistakes. Most people I know are never fully happy with their work, like me they are always mistakes, always, always, always. But in art even mistakes become beautiful beacuse art is alive.
Now to get your work to where you are happy with it just hang in there and don't stop, you'll get it. It takes practice but it also takes time. Keep learning and working at it and a year form now you'll amaze yourself, or some one else, somewhere. Just don't stop. Best wishes and good luck.

Welcome. I'm with pencilhand on this one. When you get down to it...all you have to do is satisfy yourself. As I stated to Caroline on the other thread...I had a long period of laying off the art. I came back to it 2 years ago and no kidding...I've had something on the drawing board ever since. I think the longest break I've taken since then is less than a week.
Just keep plugging away. A revelation will hit you out of nowhere more than likely.
