it's amazing to start early on drawing 'cause of all the blessed time you have but instead of going the drawing route as real young, i went the writing route. been writing stories since i was 11 so about a good ten years of doing just that. i never thought i had the 'talent' for drawing since my parents were slightly against it and always told me it was a complete waste of time.
ever since i took an intro class in college of drawing, i was fortunate to have a wonderful prof who got me interested and i've been trying to learn as much as i can since then. i just plain love it now. i swear it usually only takes one person to make the difference.

and hopefully i'll learn more with time
I've wanted to be a writer from 1st grade, except I don't like the actual
writing part and I don't have the patience to type a novel. I just like making up stories and characters. I realized that instead of writing about the characters I could learn to draw them. (Plus it helped I was already drawing)

Well, I'm not sure about really really early drawings, but I did this one 24 years ago. Forgive the out of focus shot. I've been drawing seriously for about 30, so its a few years out, but I tried.

Wow. That's amazing!

OK, as I promised earlier in this thread, a self-portrait drawn when I was 14:
[attachmentid=7826]
It was drawn on newsprint with a plain #2 pencil; it's very yellow and fragile now, given that it's 30 years old (!) I drew this from life, staring into a mirror for hours.
You've inspired me to attempt to do a self portrait.
