I just signed up today. I have always wanted to draw but always thought that you had to be practically born with a pencil in your hand i.e. innately talented. I didn't start drawing at all until I was 25. Ive learned a lot in the past few years but I know I have a lot left to learn. I do love drawing though and am looking forward to getting better. I want to learn to be an illustrator.

Welcome to Drawspace, had to comment on your drawing so I'll do the welcome and comment both here.Your drawing reminded me of what I was doing before I found Lee Hammond's and Brenda's books. The talent was there but the know how wasn't.I was getting pretty good when I had to quit for health reasons.Just waited too late to get started. When you got a few hours I recommend you go to the lesson=w01-Karin.Stay with the same picture of Roger and come back when you have an "after" drawing to show.Best of luck,Ted
Welcome to the site, I am impressed with your post in the gallery, as Tehobu stated, there is talent there, it just needs training.
Stick with the lessons and i am sure you will quickly pick up the skills needed, looking forward to seeing your progress.

Thanks Tehobu and RJS for the welcomes! I guess Im not quite ready for prime time yet. I will continue to practice when I can. I plan to take advantage of the lessons. They look very interesting and informative so far.
You know, I guess the one I put up isnt that great. Maybe I can make something better to display. Thanks again.

Aww shucks KCohere,
I was hoping to get a glimpse of your work and provide you some comments since I am a beginner too. You shouldn't be ashamed of anything you post here. This is exactly what this site is designed for. A place that beginners can present their work and show their improvement using the gallery space provided to them. Without the beginning pictures to compare, we would have no way to gauge your skill progression.
Again, don't be discouraged. That is why Brenda wrote the books, so that we could realize that our art is not bad, just needing someone to show them the improvement steps.

Im still around.

Im working two jobs so I'm hardly at home. I only have a few minutes to post before I'm off again. I had my doubts about that picture, but I mostly like it, and I needed it for my website. I'm not giving up on my drawing, believe me.

I'll post more when I have more time. Thanks everyone!
