Hey, I am new here and I do need a bit of help on a drawing I am working on.
I am trying to draw a male, but can never get the facial proportions right, I need help getting this right...

Are you trying to draw from a reference, or from your imagination? Many people have this idea that "real artists" can make things up out of the clear blue sky, but honestly, that's rarely the case (and even when it is, the things they've made up generally aren't realism.) If you want to get the proportions right, look at a real person -- in life, or in a photo -- and draw what you see.

That said, of course there are mathematical relationships that can guide you. Here is one of Brenda's lessons that spells out such a system.

I have seen that one before, but I just do not understand it that well. I am a step-by-step kind of person. The other problem I am having is drawing the shape of the face...I know that everyone has a different type of facial shape....oh, and yes I am coming up with this one...so it can not be from a reference.

Hi Cassy!
You can draw human faces in fine art, illustration, fantasy drawing, comics/animation. Each of these art approaches requires a different skill. For fine art and some illustration and fantasy drawing we need the basics of human anatomy and facial proportions but also a lot of observation of real life people.
I found some helpful pages online you might wish to check out and also I tried my own sketches of human heads(males); they are not as good as if they were inspired by real people or photos but it's an attempt to show that even from imagination one can come up with some examples of heads.

I do portraits for the most part and I found that it takes a very long time of working hard on the spaces between the eyes and the space from the corner of the eyes to the flare of the nose ...and then from the nose to the center of the lips how far to place them under the nose how far from the chin .. its so much to do .. I looked at the sites that are offered here and they are helpful .. but now I just can look and tell because its like my hand just knows where the eye needs to be ...now at times when I want perfection and want so bad for it to look exact .. i never seem to get there but I will measure the distances....i would recommend drawing a oval then lines where you think the eyes should go centering the pupil then a line where the tip of the nose will be then the same for the mouth and remember the sides of the face and eyes should not be so close ..start building from there the eyes very light so you can erase .. then follow through with the nose and so on . I hope that helps .

Can anyone help me on this drawing, I would like to make this robot come to life. Make the lighting more dynamic etc. Can someone tell me how i should do that, or show me, by copying the image and editing it. Any other advice?

Could you post your drawing and the source you are working from? If so it would be easier to give you advice.
