Full Version: Kids shopping lists

Ernest Friedman-Hill
When my daughter was little, I'd make her a shopping list to bring whenever I took her to the grocery store. Of course, little kids can't read, so the list would have pictures for each item. When Danielle was small the pictures were just outline drawings with a Bic pen. But now my youngest is the right age for this, and I've been using these lists as an opportunity to practice making quick little sketches of food with colored pencils. This is the list he used today:

Does anybody else do this? If you don't, you should -- it's fun and the kids love it. It's also nice when they can recognize the drawings... smile.gif

Wow Ernest, that is an excellent idea. I have my youngest grand daughter and she is learning to read so this would be a great exercise for us both. Thanks for the idea. I will do it today. biggrin.gif

Love those vegetable sketches, even if I don't have young kids! Lovely idea.

Ernest----Oddly enough I started this about a month ago. Now my Daughter can't get enough of the grocery. Even if we don't need to, we must shop with her list every week. She won't let us forget.
