Well, one thing that comes to mind is to point out that the brightest white areas are the hardest, thickest parts of the bone, or places where multiple bones overlap, while the darker areas are the less substantial parts of things. That's really quite the opposite of the way we tend to think of things. If I wanted to draw an X-ray, I'd either use white Conte or chalk on black paper, or I'd use charcoal and white paper, and then flip it in Photoshop.

I agree, I'd use conti crayons (white, and black) or charcoal on white paper with a real good eraser.

Well, I'm actually going to college and we had an assignment the other day very interesting from our profesor. This was for my basic drawing class so I guess that if a beginer like me was able to do it anyone can. We had to make a copy with the copier machine of our face and it came out kind of like x-ra except that the copy had my face's gestures in it. So with a very very dark charcoal we covered a big piece of white sketch paper. So the paper was no longer white but now black because of all the charcoal. Then with a very good eraser we started to erase or "draw" our faces that were on the copy paper. It was very messy but it was so much fun. So I believe that this is the easiest way to do it, just find a black surface and work backwards. Instead of black lines on white paper do white lines by erasing in a black charcoaled paper. Hope that helps
