I need help in deciding which photo would make the best drawing. I am also attaching the posterized view of each one. I am teaching myself to look for shadows, contrast, highlights, composition and color.

Wow this is a tough one....I like the first image a little better... I hope when you do decide you will post your finished product....your drawings are so wonderful!!!!!

The first one is much better, IMO. It would make a lovely drawing.

I'm not too fond of the second. The shadows from the low-angled light don't do it for me, and the composition isn't as good.

Here's my two cents.
I would draw the first one because it is a more realistic angle; giving a more credible drawing. It also provides nice variation of light.
I think I remember seeing a similar angle of the second photo when I was less than 4 feet tall. smile.gif

Thanks everyone. The first one it is then. I will try to do it justice and post it when I am done.

biggrin.gif Judy, definately the first one. I like it the best.

The first is definitely the winner! I don't like the composition of the second one and the contrasts are too harsh.
Funny, but I bought a pomegranate the other day just so I could draw it--it is lying on my counter with a bunch of pruple grapes and a pear! Can't wait to see this one!

Everyone says the first one, and I automatically think do the second one haha. Such is my life as an artist, always going against what everyone else says!

Anyways the reason I say the second one is because of that beautiful shadow cast in the background. love it!

I like the posterized views. They are very inspirational. Thanks for including them. I have bought two or three pomegranates lately with the intention of drawing them, but I keep eating them. :-)
