Wonderful work!
Hello WAYNEO.
I have a little trouble commenting on your work but I'll give it a try. It would be good if you could give a little bit of information on what inspired you to do these pieces and why you chose certain techniques. A mini manifesto if you will.
So what do I see in your aged man drawing?
Most importantly it captures my interest and tells a story. Very lonely sentiments come to me when I look at it. If that is the intention, that's great and nothing needs to be explained. That for me is good art.
The use of light
I'm not too sure where the light is coming from here. His head is covered in a way that makes me think the sun is on the right of the drawing, but his coat on that side seems to be in shadow a bit. That makes me think that maybe it's coming from the left. But then again the woman's shadow makes me think that maybe he is looking into the sun.
Shading
The overall shading is good. I wonder why you didn't go darker on the shadows. Was this intentional? Part of the mood?
Detail
It seems a bit flat. For example the face has little definition. Again, maybe this is intentional but without understanding your style I'm only guessing.
Perspective
I think it is great. The woman seems in perfect proportions with forward and back planes. I love the atmosphere and the story it tells.
My understanding of the story
This guy is in an home for the elderly. Everyday it is the same routine. No visits and go out to get some air. It has become such a routine that there is nothing left to say and the person taking him out walks around thinking about what she will eat for dinner tonight.
So there you have my comments and thanks for sharing.
I would just suggest that you make these requests for comments in
The Official Critique Thread. Maybe you will get more feedback there.
