Last year I started the first of what I hope will be an annual event here at Drawspace. Secret Santa!
Everyone who enters gets a virtual present drawn for them! But.....we won't know who sent them!!!! We will have to do some guessing...and some detective work! The number of participants is unrestricted and you'll only have to draw one image.
I'm gaging interest in who wants to do this at the moment and would need two people to be the Secret Santas. I am not able to participate this year due to time restrictions and work loads.

So this can only work if people want it and if we have a couple of volunteers. Just let me know if you're interested and we'll see where it goes.
Here's how it would work....From now until Dec 7th:
Artists agree to participate in the Secret Santa thread
Dec 7th: List is split in two and published (each participant is assigned a Santa).
From Dec 7th to December 23nd: Each participant sends the virtual Xmas present drawn by them to their assigned Santa for distribution
Dec 24th: Santas send virtual presents via PM to his or her list.
Then Participants exchange PMs to find out who sent them the present. When they have found out who drew their gift, they can then post the image in the thread ( saying xxx is my Secret Santa, here is what I got).
When you register your name for the Secret Santa event, you should then provide your list of what you would like for Christmas. Then whoever gets your name will have some ideas to 'draw' from... :)The sky's the limit in this. Be as extravagant or frugal as you like.
Please let me know if there is any interest in doing this again and if there iare volunteers who would like to be Secret Santas.

Ok, we have a little interest, that's great. We'll see how registration goes as its early yet and if we get say - 6 people - we'll go ahead with it.
I'll still need volunteer Santas, as I can't get involved this year, just way too much to do right now. Anyone interested in heading up this project?

I had the same problem with not really understanding, but I read the directions again, and think I've got it now.
I would like to participate and would be happy to be a volunteer Santa if the other volunteer Santa knows what he/she is doing and can help me out a little. The way I see it, a volunteer Santa receives virtual gifts and distributes them. I gather there are two Santas so that both Santas can also play. Is that right?

You've got it exactly Marilyn!
It sounds confusing but is very simple really. In a nutshell, you sign up for the Secret Santa, and post your 'wish list'.
The names are divided among the two Santas who send each person the name of someone who they will draw for.
When you finish your drawing for that person, you email it back to your Santa who will distribute the 'gift' on December 24th.
You then try to guess who drew your gift by sending pm's to people that you think drew it. When you find the right person, you post your drawing and reveal who drew it.
Kim, thanks so much for volunteering to help on this, I know you know how it works so perhaps you can take the lead here? And Marilyn can be Santa # 2.
Thanks everyone for joining in, I'm sure you'll all enjoy it a lot!

I'm in! This was so much fun last year. Anyone can do this and you don't even have to be a great artist. You just, look at the list, pick a picture, do your best and send it to Santa. Then guess who drew yours. Besides, you know that old saying that it's the thought that counts. And some of us have lots of thought, just not much skill yet.
So you budding artists, don't let it hold you back. You'll love this..
And we expect you here too, Brian David.

Its great to see so many people jumping on this one. Yes, it was great fun last year.
This year, my schedule is so busy its nigh impossible for me to participate as much as I'd love to. But I will be around, just not enough hours in the day to fit everything in lately. So I don't want to agree then have to bow out and disappoint anyone. If there's anyway that I can join in, I will.

Happy drawing everyone!

OK, I have been thinking about my list...........hmmm................................
1. A Heilman Pastel box with a tripod - they are not available here in Oz.
2. A great big beautiful box set of 200 soft pastels.
3. A sturdy, folding aluminuim easel to use plain-air.
4. And its coming into summer so an air conditioner would be great!
Any one of these would be great Santa - and I have been a good girl ..................no really!

Hi all,
my wish list.
-Old nostalgia ads.
-A fantasy island.
-Elephants.
-And naturally any thing in Cartoon form.
I sent Kim my list before I left for the week-end. I still think I'll get another lump of coal this year.

Which, by the way, was one of my favorite presents. It's huge and I
verethaned it painted it with clear lacquer and put it on a stand for everyone to see how naughty I was for Christmas a couple of years ago. It's in the curio cabinet with the crystal.
