I was cruising the gallery and was visiting easttexasart
easttexasart

and I noticed here and on another one or two here and there that someone can post comments, with NO ID whatsoever?
I had no idea that could be done. there is no name, no pic, how is that done and who is allowed to do that? is that and admin thing or a glitch?
just curious.

It's probably a deleted account. The post stays but the account details are returned to zero. Either that or Elvis is back!
oliverandjazz
OIC...thanx, that would make sense wouldn't it?

speaking of questions....
That is quite the drawing you have as an avatar, I feel like I should recognize the pose and person, but I am not good at that type of thing.

hey steve, does your wife draw/paint?
Songsparrow
She draws lots of money from our bank account, and she paints a pretty picture when she needs new clothes or shoes.

She likes to knit. She has always got something or other on the go. She has made some fantastic knitted toys! smile.gif
oliverandjazz
I love to knit and crochet too, I used to sew ALOT, clothes, toys, blankets, curtains etc
Songsparrow
You're a pretty creative person aren't you? smile.gif I love to try all kinds of stuff. I have some modeling clay here. I might have a go at something like this little fella you sent me! I just love him to bits! smile.gif
oliverandjazz
oh it is soo easy and loads of fun, let me see your outcome..Yes, I have kept myself busy over the years, and sane by artwork of all kinds. When we owned the farm house up north, I 'painted' all the HUGE windows in the dining room with that glass paint, in a floral design, they looked like real stained glass and when we sold the house I never told them any different! They were gorgeous, Oh and I love woodworking, I have all kinds of stuff I have made..I was engaged to a carpenter and I was his helper ( that is how I met him, he used to be my boss) and worked with him for 7 yrs. He was tragically killed by an 18 wheeler up north..I drove right thru the accident on my way to the store, I thought it looked like his truck, but i just would not allow myself to believe it..when I got to the store the ladies at the register all gathered round me and broke the news..I was just devastated and have never been quite the same person since his loss..he was a really good person.

That's a truely sad tale! I'm really sorry. I can't even imagine something like that!

here is a gift from a friend of mine years ago..Has anyone heard of this artist? I had never heard of him before and only just googled him today , I have it down at the moment cause I have been washing walls and everything on walls. I am sure it must be a print? Or am i sitting on good money that I am not aware of?? ( I mean I dont think my friend is 'cheap' or anything) but he may have purchased something he wasn't aware of too..

Might be worth a fortune! smile.gif Wasn't he an impressionist? I'm gonna jfgi.
oliverandjazz
i am trying to find out more about him so far I have this much

Dietz Edzard was born n Bremen in 1893. He traveled extensively through Germany, Holland and France. Edzard, a colourful artist who has carried on the traditions of the masters of French Impressionism, studied painting with Max Beckmann. In 1929, Edzard’s work was included in an exhibition of Contemporary Painting at the Jeu de Paume, Paris, a museum dedicated to the Impressionist masters. In 1938, Edzard married Suzanne Eisendieck (1908-1998), a well-regarded artist in her own right who worked in an impressionistic style.

In his book D. Edzard, Gerd Muehsam writes: “Edzard has captured in his canvases the charm of the Parisian atmosphere. With the light, vibrant touch of his brush, he produced sparkling, and yet delicate, paintings of beautiful women, dancers and flowers. His brilliant delineations of circus life and the theatre, his spirited portrayals of Parisian café scenes have made him a favorite of art circles in this country and abroad”

“Consciously, (Edzard) turns his back on the experimental art of his contemporaries, opposes all weighting of art eith programs and theorems. Deliberately, he avoids the representation of human conflict and inner discords and the chaos and shifting quicksands of modern existence. Instead, he prefers to work along well-defined modes of expression. The line begun in portraits of Velazquez and Goya and continued in the art of Manet and Renoir becomes Edzard’s artistic credo”.

if it is worth a fortune, im coming to visit ya laugh.gif wink.gif

smile.gif Lovely.

here is another charmer, this one i actually purchased at a lawnsale, the back paper is no longer intact, it had suffered waterdamage, the frame is 'really really old' I kept it just like that as i thought it added age and charm to the overall piece..the waterdamage only affects the surrounding mat not the art..It is one of my favorites, it is really long and hangs in my upstairs hallway, I love this old stuff.
I wish I could get better pics, the glare is awful..there is so much going on in this artwork, i just love it

I have a painting by a guy named Stephen De Hann, It's about 4' X 2' and I rescued it from being thrown in a skip! (Dumpster...?) It has a lovely guilt frame and is obviously an original oil painting. But I can'tfind much about mr De Hann on the internet!
oliverandjazz
there is a 'stamped' Like something from the notary copyright on this one dated 1899
New York my eyes are not good enough to see the other small words, I have to dig out a mag glass
oliverandjazz
its strange how some really great pieces of artwork get around isnt it..Like that guy that found a copy of the declaration of independance in a box in his attic! when it was still being bandied about..NUTZ!

oliverandjazz
i only paid 4 bucks for it..whether its worth that or not i dont know but i just love the piece so it is worth far more than that to me..and I cant find this guy online either
oliverandjazz

Does anyone own any Ron Wood paintings (rolling stones)? A group of us went to an art gallery on bourbon street years ago, and my friend just HAD to have a Ron Wood painting..most of his work is done in rehab i believe.. I think he is confused and thinks thats a vacation spa spot laugh.gif tongue.gif
Any way, my friend paid like 800 bucks for something like an 8x10 and I didnt think it was worth that..I have seen better for less, but what ever it is RON WOOD and he was tickled to have it..LOL
oliverandjazz
I have a sister that is blind, does anyone else? Paula is her name and she is always after me to describe my paintings and my work to her..she thinks they are beautiful. Does anyone else 'describe' their artwork to a blind loved one?
oliverandjazz
Hmm..is the site being worked on today? I can not make my gallery rounds, I get an IPS DRIVER ERROR, a big white page and that is all that is on it..
katdyd
My question..any hints on sending a drawing in the mail..a large one.. and getting it safely to its destination and in one piece? Any hints are welcome smile.gif..thanks
Kat
oliverandjazz
kat what i would do is get some really sturdy cardboard, cut it an inch or so larger than your pic and tape it together

or there are mailing tubes if you dont mind it being rolled..I would prefer to ship flat though..
texaslady-59
Kat whenever I shipped paintings framed or unframed I would double box them and used bubble wrap ..I always shipped UPS if it was in Country .. never once did I have problem with them. One important suggestion.. On the outside write and note to mail company.. Do Not Stack.. They will let it ride upright.. Stress that it is a painting and stacking could compromise it.. Mine were canvas mostly and stacking could dent the canvas.. Of course I used heavy cardboard to protect it with the bubble wrap .. but I didn't take that chance.. Now if it is a watercolor and small enough to roll a tube is excellent as Kay mentioned..
One more thing .. I always sent it ground shipment .. cheaper .. I always sent them out on a Monday so travel time would be during the week.. If they went into a weekend they would just sit ..
katdyd
Thank you Kay and Carol smile.gif I think I will choose the cardboard and bubble wrap and two boxes.. to ship the drawing. It sounds like the best way to get it there safely and mark it appropriately and send it off with a prayer!..
thanks again
Kat
texaslady-59
Good Luck Kat .. keep us posted .. Always a scary thing .. But honestly I think it will be okay if you pack it carefully.. Be sure and check insurance .. UPS offers their own but you can add to it .. They also have a tracking number where you and the party can track the package.. Be sure and ask for that.. the other party will need to give you an email Addy..
katdyd
It has arrived safely smile.gif The new owner called today..thank you Carol. Your system worked well it arrived in perfect condition!
Kat
