Hi. I started drawing in September and I am loving it.

I drew a violin with charcoal for the first time and I am not sure if I like it.
Also, I am posting a original picture for you to compare.

I am hesitant sleep.gif to use color pencils because : 1 I have never used one before and don't feel comfortable
2. I don't know if it would turn out better laugh.gif or worse. mad.gif

What do you think? dry.gif

Thank you and happy holidays!! wub.gif

It is only paper and time.. figure it it in your mind as practice but do the best job you can! If it turns out hang it up, if not, learn from the experiance! Just have fun and don't strees about it!

If you are happy with your drawing and want to try colored pencil .. myself I would try colored pencil on a different drawing ..until you are confident in layering your colors .. because using colored pencil is not like coloring in a coloring book ..by laying say red down ...when you look at a picture and see red .. look closer and you well see browns and orange and yellows ...those are the layers of colors you need to use to bring out the richness in a drawing when using colored pencils .

not sure if I answered your question or not lol .

I think you did a fine job with the violin(?).
Part of what you are not happy with is that you stopped when you got the details in, wire, edges, etc. Now you have to add in the values that give it dimension and shape. Here is a black and white of your picture see how the wood of the violin is anything but white.

As for colour pencil. Here is the class that was run a while back. http://www.drawspace.com/forums/index.php?...c=3029&st=0
