Thanks Kev, here's a little update for you biggrin.gif

Lycaryth, thanks biggrin.gif The fur takes a while, with lots of layering and erasing. Just takes lots of practice smile.gif

Odrop, thanks. No background for this one as I have so many other drawings planned. I need to finish this as I have a portrait which needs to be finished by the end of March.

Thanks Jim, and thanks for keeping me company on this biggrin.gif

I've done a little bit of work on the top of his snout and begun marking in the darker fur around the edge.

Wow it is really taking shape, and I love the realism. It is definitely obvious you have been putting some hours into this!!! I havent had much time to draw anything because of school hopefully I can get something up soon your making me jealous!!! smile.gif Great job!!!!!!! You got the fur down to a t!

bigs
Getting a wonderful depth to this and just love watching it come together.

The fur is looking great. Love the depth in the eyes. I don't know if it is me but I feel like each eye in looking in two different directions. Otherwise it is looking really nice.
purplepaperwing
Wow. Even though it's in progress, it's still incredibly real. Amazing. happy.gif

Jim, Sue, Dean and PPWing, thanks a lot guys. I spent another couple of hours on it this morning. The left of the mouth needs more work, it's a bit off. As for the eyes Dean, I'm not sure the highlight is in the right place in the eye on the left. There isn't a hightlight in the ref so I had to make it up myself. Any advice on that would be gratefully received blush.gif

biggrin.gif Jan, Wow, beautoful job!! It looks so real. I think the eyes look great and couldn't pinpoint what Dean was seeing myself. But, your patience and time on this picture was very well spent.

Sorry, I have responded sooner, Kiddies have been out of school for 9 days now 2 of them being due to icey backroads and busses not being able to drive them. ( Really pulling my hair out today and going WACKO!!! LOL).... wacko.gif

If not many people are noticing it,then I don't think that it is worth making any corrections for the eyes, as it might just be me. Even if you do, you will have to redo the eyes area and it might ruin the whole thing. I think that it is not worth worrying about it. I still think that it is a really nice drawing that you have done.
Greeneyes
Thanks Oldat29 blush.gif biggrin.gif

Thanks Venus, hope you're feeling a bit less Wacko now laugh.gif

Thanks Dean, don't worry, I'd already decided to leave the eyes as they are. If I tried to "fix" them now and ruined it at this late stage I'd have a fit!!! Thanks for voicing your observation, though, it's exactly what is needed to help in learning and developing skills.

Jan,

now that I take a 2nd & 3rd look I think the problem that Dean is seeing could be fixed by decreasing the size of the highlight (on the bottom) a little or slightly increasing the pupil size - I think that it could be because the highlight is right on the edge of the pupil & iris that makes it look a tad off.

Just my thought - but I had to really study it to see it - the rest of the dog is so good!!
Spuddy
I probably don't have an eye for such things, as after a few more looks it still seems perfect laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif
Greeneyes
Thanks Sue, I'll check that out smile.gif

Spuddy, thanks laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif
