I am a 47 year old male that has a hard time drawling a stick figure. I have learned so much already and I haven't even picked up a pencil yet. I think this will be a big help in getting me started in drawling.

I stumbled back across this forum from somewhere else. I'd forgotten I'd joined Drawspace forums (goes to show that I keep putting work ahead of learning to draw, darnit). I love the way this site is laid out. I can concentrate on one lesson at a time. I really think I can make the time for it now and I'm looking forward to making some progress!

This glossary looks like a wonderful preview of coming attractions!

Brenda, I absolutely love your site. It will be a great place to refer my students for learning, inspiration, practice and connections to other artists. You're doing a fantastic job with the site itself. Bravo to all of you who worked so hard to provide such a great resource for future and present artists!
Brenda Hoddinott
Hey Therese!

Long time no see! Hope you're keeping that sister of mine in check! (Big goofy grin)

Yes enjoy! With almost 200 lessons, I think your students may be kept very busy.

Hugs,
Brenda

Thanks so much, I wrote it all out into a notebook so I can use it for further reference.
This is the first thing I've looked at on this website, and if we go good like this, I'm sure to make a donation and tell all my artistic friends about it. laugh.gif

I am also new to drawing and this lesson is extremely informative. I feel like I need to read it a second or third time to fully comprehend all the terms and names. This lesson is just SO full of information! Thank you a whole lot for posting all this great knowledge. I plan on copying it all down in a notebook.

I think the drawing is an instrument to create their images and to the terms of drawing power and learn to draw, this is an effective way to learn the subject more thoroughly.

In My Opinion, ANYONE Can learn "to draw like that". and so can you.

I was told by one of my art teachers "Every Artist, on every level has 10,000 'bad drawings' before they get one good drawing"

start with small stuff, such as general shapes, try different things with those shapes, the more you draw the better you will become, it just takes time, and patients. Remember "YOU CAN DRAW LIKE THAT" just PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE.

Most importantly Enjoy your learning Process, don't get frustrated, or discouraged, just keep on drawing.

After reading the Glossary, I am a lot clearer on the meanings of some of the terms used in drawing. Before reading this lesson, I had started on a book about pencil drawing but I had to keep looking up the meanings of the words used by the author - so thank you very much for such a clear explanation.
Eryka15
Excellent information! smile.gif

Helo Brenda! First of all, thank you. You've done a great job, as I'm Brazil and your lessons crossed oceans, rivers and walls and now I'm commited to learn how to draw. In a few days I will put in my profile my last draw... it seems like a 2 years old child job... But with time and patience, I will be able to draw mandalas as them should be.

Once again sister, thank you! You are really doing a good job.

Love and peace.

Well, I finished the reading of the first lesson, and I have to admitted that all things wrote there were important to know, but, even I understood every word, I'll have to comeback to read again when it makes necessary, cause I could not memorized all.

This is so GREAT! I actually understood what some of the terms meant (not that I understood everything) but it really made sense. Thanks for making the terms easy to understand.
Morganna
Hi,

I read the glossary and find very cool!

Thanks!
Pixie_Phoenix
18 pages are hardcore but glad that I got trough them. I will defiantly use this as to look up words I don't understand while doing the solo lessons since English is not my mother tongue
