Can you post the image so we can see the effect you're trying to acheive?

When my digital camera comes back from the repairs I will post what I have so far.

Without knowing the medium or seeing the subject, it's really difficult to help. sad.gif

However, this being said, my first instinct is to add some red to the black as you lighten it.
Red is complementary to green, and should therefore neutralize the green and warm the black closer to the light.

This would work with oils, but if I was you, I'd experiment before applying it to the actual drawing/painting.

wow, i knew complimentary colours knocked each other out in photography, never knew it happened in painting as well, will try it tonight, I am using oils by the way.
