This is a very very rough and in the beginning stages. Im practicing at drawing animals and my cat has an obesession about jumping in the laundry basket and then swatting at me if I try to get him out. So I thought I would take a picture and right when I snapped it he peeked over and swatted at me which was cute because in the picture the paw is up close and it looks huge - plus it looks as though he is peeking over. Right now I just sketched it out and I began just putting down light greys where the darks and shadows are going to be the bottom part of the basket hasnt even been touched yet except for the outline..... and yes... Im still using my bent paper, hahaha I cant get rid of it!

I agree, it looks really good so far. I can't wait to see how it goes when you finish it!

Well I started working on some of the fur and the eyes, its starting to fall into place some. I think once I shade in some of the basket the will make a difference also - and im still trying to decide whetehr to make the background dark or just leave it white.

Hey Jim looking reall good! For the back gound.. how about just some vertical out of focus lines and a real lite shading. I think having the cats fur as one of the darkes areas will look better than having it get lost in the almost black contrast of the background as in the picture. Just something to balance out which way up might be .. hard to tell without something in the backgound..
Looking forward to seeing what you come up with!

Thank you very much!

I started working on the background, but its hard for me to get a good picture of it. With all of the shading, the light reflects leaving it look real light grayish.. so I took it at an angel to try to avoid the glare.

Hey that is looking great! I like what you did with the backgound.. I am sure you are wishing for some titainium white and an hp-bh to pull those white wiskers biggrin.gif .. how the heck can you do that and get it to look right with pencil???
So which did pencil did you use for the backgound.. we never finshed our game of battle ship. biggrin.gif

Back to those wiskers over the black.. just had an idea... maybe next time try to cutting them out of some plastic film, then lay it over where they go and hit it with a neaded eraser?? Just a thought, not sure if it would work.. I guess masking them with tape wouldn't work either.. pencil would probably pull up the tape..

Looking forward to the next step!

You could go grab an eraser shield from the art store. They usually have them in with the drafting supplies.

Yeah the white part of the whiskers is definitely a pain in the butt. I used a 6B for the background and just kept building and building!!!! I think I am going to invest in a electric eraser!!!!

I have been so busy with school lately I havent had much time to work on anything. I just finished this up, I could have done better - I feel like I rushed just to get it done.. But it still turned out pretty descent I think smile.gif

Yep looks real nice! I realy like your choice of the background. It is kind of a funky perspective and I had wondered if we would be able to tell it was a cloths basket, but it is obvious! Nice job and I know what you mean about "Wanting it done"~
Have a good one!

Thank you very much!!! I really appreciate it! I think I am going to start drawing smaller so I can scan it because I am losing some quality by taking a photo of it - especially since I take it at an slant so I dont get the glare. Thanks again!
