Venus
cool2.gif Hello Everyone!! My name is Venus and I will be this weeks challenge host. All of the pictures that are in this challenge were taken by me. This is a DRAWING challenge. Therefore please confine your artistic endeavours to some form of drawing: graphite, coloured pencil, pen and ink or charcoal.

There is no ruling on what size your final drawing or sketch should be. Smaller, sketchbook sizes will provide a smaller file size which is easier for loading onto the thread.

If you would like assistance or advice, please ask for it and I will be more than willing to try to guide you.

This challenge will last for one week. At that time, all challenge drawings should be submitted to this thread.

Other than that I hope you all enjoy the pictures I am providing and have fun!! Can't wait to see the results..

1. Tuesday (my 8yr. old daughter), this picture was taken by me for a pre-modeling and acting portfolio as she wants to be an actress and singer for Disney.

2. This is a berry tree that I zoomed really close on and loved the hues and the way the light source was shining on the picture.

3. This is just some home decorations I took for a little still life practice.

4. This is a stone plaque that is part of a metal fence on a new home being built a street over from me.

5. This is a little dragonfly that I chased around the lake dam down the street from me. He finally stopped and settled on the concrete so I could snap a picture of him.

biggrin.gif Jeanette, that is a beautiful job of Tuesday!! She loved it and said thank you. As for making it in Disney, hmmm we will see. Not to sure about show business and child exploited to the media and such. ( Learned all of this when I was trying to get tickets for the Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus concert...can't imagine that poor girls real life!!)

Come on peoples lets see some more of those drawing tallents put to paper!!
kim1963
Nice job Jeanette .. you have the look down well ...her eyes are great .

I cant imagine Hannas future ..from what seems to come from Disney nowadays I would not be real sure about exposing my daughter to them .
Tuesday is beautiful and I have a agency that will not ask you for money or expensive portraits ....they will promote her and take part of what she makes . kayela was doing it when she was younger but then one day said ...mom I dont like people picking me over others or saying I have the perfect look ...but the other girls did not .. so we told her it was up to her and she stopped ...she did buy her first bike with her own money .

even though I dislike drawing glass, I tried the still life .. I'm not so happy with the way it looks on computer, it looks better on paper sad.gif .. the black is not dark enough laugh.gif

[attachmentid=8683]

P.S. I edited the background to look smoother and i tried to adjust the contrast with corel photo-paint happy.gif
kim1963
I am happy with it .. I think you did a great job making it look as if it were setting away from the wall .
from Nithafjoll
I dont know if you can see this as this is the first time I have had a go at getting my art up on the web.

It is not very good but I have had a go at the lamp thing.

Thanks

[attachmentid=8693]Hello Venus

Beautiful pics, here's my 30 minute sketch in a 5.5 x 8.5 sketch book using a prismacolor sanguine pencil.

If I spend more time measuring, I can get a better likeness, but I'm just trying to measure less and eyeball more.

I added a dozen years to her, and made her eyes too high, and nose too long, all by accident.

I think it has a Modigliani feel to it. biggrin.gif

Thanks,

Gary

Venus
biggrin.gif Gary, you didn't do bad at all, infact I would say in another few years that she will probably look just like that. happy.gif
Prismax
Edited it to add more shadow and cleanup some lines.

Placement and Proportions are off, but that just makes it unique. smile.gif
Staedtler Graphite Pencils and pen eraser
9x12 Canson Sketch Paper(I'm part Dutch)
General's 3 in 1 manual pencil sharpener(I don't like noise)
Some drafting table I got a garage sale.(another dutch moment)
$11 lamp from hobby lobby
1 glass of hot chocolate(warms me up in the morning)
Cyn
All the drawings are great..
Prismax, I like your list of supplies. Especially the hot chocolate.. laugh.gif

Here is my lion. I should have used a ruler. rolleyes.gif
Cyn
And here is my dragonfly. I just had to try it. :-)

Venus
biggrin.gif Cyn, beautiful job on the stone work and the dragonfly!! ( Can't wait to finish my drawing I am working on to do something else, I have a deadline, so I hope to finish soon and join the Drawing Challenge..)

smile.gif Prismax, great work even if a little off as you said. Looks great to me.
