Hi every one,
welcome to Snoopy 101 my name is Brian David and it is my pleasure to host...... although I am no expert on this.
The year 1893 Thomas Edison invents the Kinetoscope.
The year 1899 The first magnetic recording of sound.
The year 1906 James Stewart Blackton creates HUMORUS PHASES OF FUNNY FACES considered the first known example of animation.
The year 1919 Max Fleisher produced OUT OF THE INK Well a short featuring Koko the clown.
The year 1920 19 year old Walter Elias Disney started working on animation in Kansas City while...
Otto Messemer created felix the cat....he is considered the first true Cartoon movie star....even more popular then actual movie stars of that period. King Features syndicated Felix in over 250 newspapers reaching almost every corner of the globe.
And now my challenge the year 2008 Create your very own Cartoon cat......you may use any type of medium you like but please no computer graphics...you may use your computer for coloring or text if you wish but please post your original drawing first.
for those who would rather draw one of the classics such as Felix or Garfield etc...please feel free to do so...Hope you all have fun and enjoy.

Happy drawings, Brian.

I told you I would enter a challenge when I got the time, well here is my submission :3
It is a ninja cat, because cats are sneaky and they hide in plain sight (plus my cat's name is ninja so this is a tribute to him)

Wow... Interesting

Jan 27 2008, 01:36 PM
Hi
Lance great drawing!....I agree with Siksno....interesting.....the concept kind of reminds me of the great Dr.Seuss's Cat in the hat....although I think yours looks a little more scary with those teeth and eyes..
I decided to try my version of the cat in the hat....and this is a very fast 7 minute sketch in ink also from imagination.

Hi there Brian!
And all the participants in this challenge.
Beautiful work you all have produced.
As far as i'm concerned I couldn't miss this chance because...
A- Cartoons are the main reason for my passion on drawing. When i was 2, 2½ years old i began drawing, it was one of the things (and still is) that i loved the most, my mother told me. Then, Wen i turned 3 i began copying some characters from Dysney's, i loved it!
And wen i was 10 i saw an ehxibition of modern art that changed my life forever. That day i discovered the work of Pablo Picasso, and suddenly my interest on drawing cartoons vanished. I had discovered Art!
(oh, and by the way my favorite character ever, is... Willie E. Coyote!)
B- I love cats.
C- I'm allways learning, and with this one i learned a lot.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Drawings:
1 - Proportions of the body.
2 - Study for the head.
3 - Study of a cats head.
4 - Another study for the head.
5 - Full bobdy, for the body expression and the cats face.
6 - Polished version of 5, done to define fur texture (i love tabby cats)
Final version: Made in Macromedia Freehand MX, and Photoshop for the shadow and fine tune the overall colors.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The result is Mr. B,
I Hope you enjoy!
(dedicated to Brian, our host).
P.S. you must excuse my bad english, but i didn't use it for writing or speaking for a long time.

Hi Taz that is a cute drawing of Sylvester.....I find with Cartoons the shape of the hands and face the hardest to draw......but gets easier with practise.
Hi Ricardo .....I am honoured that you did this....very interesting and I am glad to see an artist with your experience and talents taking part in the challenges...I think this is fantastic work! thanks so much for doing this and joining in.... I enjoyed seeing this very much.
Brian.

Great cats everyone!
Here is a cat I've always loved - done with a 4b graphite pencil (the only one I could find at a moment's notice). Poor thing! He doesn't realize that marriage might be right around the corner - meowwwww!

Hi All,
first I would like to thank all the participants for making this such a very fun challenge

.....the drawings have been spectacular this week ...I have been enjoying this very much..I may extend this challenge for a few more days while I try to think of an idea for the next...mind you the challenges never really expire. Also I am always open to suggestions or if any of you would like the opportunity to host.... please send me a personal message I would be glad to help.
Cyn Kid ....what a great surprise to see you draw this classic....another created by the great William Hanna and Joseph Barbera. The original series won an academy award 7 times for best short subject cartoons....one of my favorites.
I think you must know by now it is hard for me to comment on your drawings...mainly because I love them all..

.. this is another great one.

yesterday I read this pages and liked them much - all of your drawings! as I also like cats I decided to draw one ... and did it during Navy CIS, CSI and Bones
BUT: it didn't work out as a cartoon ...

. I'll put it in here in the evening anyway if it is OK (at home I have no computer). - My mom made a cartoon otherwise

I'll attach it also!
