Hi. I am new to drawing and am exploring. I bought some inexpensive paper that said it was good for pencil, but it seems to have too much texture. I can't get sharp lines on it. Can anyone suggest a good paper for starting out?
Thanks for all advice. Sue

Always buy the most expensive paper that you can afford. It can make or break your drawing, so don't skimp on your tools.
This article might give you a bit of guidance for choosing the right paper for what you wish to draw.

Words of wisdom there Jeanette!
I came on to ssay buy the best you can afford - the same for any of your supplies - it really makes your life easier.
Personally I love Bristol Smooth but it seems to have disappeared off the shelves here ( not sure if there is a problem getting Strathmore over here now) but I think when I run out of what I've got I might try some hot pressed watercolour paper (at least 300gsm - 140 lb) it is a smooth paper - just to see what results I get.
