Good morning all you blooming artist
I was smelling my husbands coffee this morning ( i dont drink the stuff) as I lay here lounging on the couch(I sleep here) half in and half out of sleep and the memory of my grandmother came rushing back,
When I was about 5 years old or so my grandmother ran a coffee stop out of her home for truckers. It was called the 'dew drop inn'. It was located in Gretna La. The coffee pots were perking long before daylight, the noise of tractor trailers humming outside were endless, the low rumble of the men talking as they gathered..the CB radios squawking, and the smell of Community coffee just filling the air..it was indeed a very fond memory and one i had not thought of for many years..It was very pleasant to go back there for a mental visit

When I hear the music that is played before the ABC Radio (Australian Broadcasting Commission - no ads station) news, it always reminds me of my Grandmother who died when I was quite young. The kitchen would smell of freshly brewing tea and toast in the morning with the ABC on the radio and everything would stop so she could get the news of the day.

Do you find that smells are more evocative than almost anything else.........you smell a scent as you are walking down the street and it can instantly take you back to special moment in your life.

yes..big time..and they work both ways evoking bad and good memories,
sauerkraut always brings up bad memories for me, the smell of it at a fair, or restaurant.
While coffee and the smell of a tobacco pipe make me miss my grandparents.
