Ernest Friedman-Hill
Are folks familiar with the (long out of print) books by Andrew Loomis? PDF files can be downloaded here. They're wonderful, practical resources. I've just recently discovered these and I'm really enjoying them. These babies are drawn from material in "Drawing the Head and Hands." They're just 2.5-inch-tall sketches. They look like 1940's advertising babies because, well, because that's the style these books teach you, really. I think it's very cool.

Loomis is great! He has so many practical advices for anyone who wants to draw, and I have found that reading his instruction on how to draw figures has really helped me a lot. And also his tips on drawing foreshortening and figures in perspecitve... Well basically the whole lot. smile.gif He does have a very particular style, but his advice is universal for any style that aims at realism.

Thanks Ernest. Loomis gives a good foundation for drawing.

I provided a link to these free books about a year ago in this post.
