Hello again everyone .. I am sorry I have not been around for some time .. first my sister lost her home from a fire two days before Christmas ...then I fell sick from I guess the flu then I had a bad fall ...but I am back and ready to start drawing again .

I will be hosting this weeks Challenge ....any medium is fine there really are no rules other then have fun .

I have listed 5 images ...Image 1 is our new addition ...his name is Pauly ...Image 2 is a pair of sunglasses with my daughters reflection ..I thought this would be cool to try ....Image 3 is my cousins grandaughters...Image 4 a jar of old buttons ...5 Valentine candy .

For any newcomers please all you need to do is pick one or more images and draw them using the medium of your choice then simply post your finished drawing smile.gif I do try to give a range of images for all skill levels I hope you find yours here .

Well I have done one, but PLEASE excuse the terrible drawing (can't half tell I am at the beginning of the lessons here!) blush.gif

Anyway, this will be the first of many (just not this week!), it's done in pen and ink in my journal. Those that know me over at WetCanvas (specifically WDE's) will know I have a very bad habit of journalling around my drawings/sketches, so there is some of that added too! tongue.gif happy.gif

THANKYOU for looking! wub.gif
kim1963
Stacey ...very nice work .. I love the touch of it being in a journal smile.gif I keep one as well I have for years they are for my daughters .. I talk about their growth I am on the second book lol for each . awsome .

My first animal drawing. I think I need to learn more about fur direction
Maire
Hi Kim and everyone......

This is only my second graphite dog and I'm really scared of such new babies as this one, but I just thought these two should be together.

Hi all,

great challenge Kim......I am late this week...lol... I have been very busy... but managed to try a quick sketch of your new addition... smile.gif

I admire all the drawings this week and what a fantastic surprise to see Maire and with a spectacular drawing......Hugs to you Maire....I have missed you very much! IPB Image
Lance500
I can see, by looking at the drawing that Maire posted, that I do have some way to go with animals
Brian David Dekter
Lance you are not alone.......I think Maire even put Snoopy to shame she is so talented... smile.gif By the way I like your drawing.
Maire
Thanks Kim, Brian and Lance....

Kim....I really did this for you - glad you liked it.

Brian....Hiya old friend! I've missed drawing this past year, but I've been sewing up a storm. Hope the world has been treating you and yours nicely. I see that Snoopy is still involved :-) And how's Tara?

Lance...This is just my opinion but I don't think talent has as much to do with the final result as does dogged determination to achieve something. If you really love what you do, you train your eye to see angles, tones and distance - you study, practise and learn. Your dog drawing shows a love of the subject, the shading is good and parts are wonderful. Some of those parts are the buckled collar, the nose and the ear. Although you did a good job with shading, you had concerns about fur direction. Here's a tip - if the photo is too dark to see how the fur lays and if you have some sort of graphics program - take the photo into the program and tone down the contrast until you can see all those hairy paths. And please don't compare yourself to anyone - or your own artist will fade.

Just have to jump in and say hello Maire!
I hope we will see more of you.
Mecharver
Maire, what a wonderful job. No need to be scared.Babies are not realy dangerous.

Lance, nice job too. I didn't have time this week to draw anything.

Cyn, nice button job. Lot of color and lots of buttons too. lol Not that easy.

Brian, I see that snoopy is ready for Valentine day. Great drawing.

Firehorse, love your drawing. Ink is tough I find. Love the name too.

Everyone has done a wonderfull job at this week challenge, except me...
But I voluntered some time and played the Upright Bass at the Valentime Dance for the kids with special need this afternoon from 1 to 3 pm. Too bad it does not count for the challenge. But the kids had fun and that's what cound.

Keep your pencils sharp and see you at the next challenge, I hope.
Maire
Hi Paulette....Thanks for jumping in - it's good 'seeing' you again. I hope all your boys are still as handsome as ever. I am really going to try to get back to my drawing and painting this year.

Thanks Mecharver for your comment and for your advice. You mean tiny babies don't break when you touch them? smile.gif
