Things are a bit hectic for me right now. blink.gif

Sunday I fell in the ice and landed on my back. My back is fine but my bottom hurts tongue.gif and I sprained both wrists. They are both wrapped. It was funny at first and I laughed really hard because the ice was so bad that my friends couldn't get to me to help me up and they were sliding all over the road. ( I fell in the street on the blacktop), so I wiggled around and crawled to the curb and out of the ice so that the biggest guy there could help me up. It's a good thing none of us drink or I could have laid there a lot longer. laugh.gif
I came home and started to draw the next morning and now I realize that you use wrist muscles to draw. biggrin.gif I am stiff and sore all over.

Then yesterday, my son, father of my grand daughter, fell off a 20 foot ladder in the ice and shattered his knee cap on the metal rung of the ladder. The doctor said it's good thing he is agile, tough and was a sky diver and knew how to land or it would have killed him. So now I am trying to take care of him, my 6 year old grand daughter and my 82 year old ailing mother across town, with 2 sprained wrists and a sore butt and cracked rib. wacko.gif It's been a great winter so far. laugh.gif And the upside of this is that it could have been worse. Ha Ha Ha Life is a great adventure. Stuff like this is wonderful. It makes you really appreciate the good times.

But the funniest part of this whole thing, is that my son, Bill, was doing a contracting job on a dairy farm replacing a roof that blew off in 75 mile an hour winds, and of all the places he could have landed, he landed in the only pile of cow manure around the building. We laughed so hard we cried. You should have smelled him. The hospital sent him home in surgical scrubs. Ha Ha Ha laugh.gif He will never live this one down. He came up spitting and laughing before he realized he didn't have a knee. His clothes are on the back porch and I have to go hose them off so I can wash them. You should have been here.

And on that note, my wrists really ache now so I will take a break.

Happy Valentine's Day to you all and happy drawing.. wub.gif

unsure.gif Ummmmm.... I am glad you are able to see humor in the situation!

So glad everyone is alive! I hope all are mended sooner rather than later.

Cyn
Thank you, Ernest. I appreciate your well wishes..

You gotta see the humor in things or it'll drive you nuts and get depressing.. My father always said that "Life is a wonderful place as long as you don't take it too seriously". biggrin.gif
My family just happens to be full of laughter and life is tedious without it. Real tedious. laugh.gif
Maire
Cyn you poor thing......

I can smell the cow dung from up here in Canada laugh.gif . But what gods in the heavens would dare to inflict all those things on you at once? I don't know how you manage with your wrists bandaged up - I put a band-aid on a finger and wonder how I'm going to do dishes or button up a coat. Sounds like you cracked your tailbone - that can be hysterically funny wacko.gif especially when sitting doing art. This winter weather reminds me of the good old days when it was easy to build a snow fort and clobber your enemies with iced snow balls - and when it was OK to retire in front of the fireplace to lick your wounds. Lick away Cy! I hope you and your son heal real quickly!

With sympathy......Maire

unsure.gif Cyn I am sorry I wished for more snow. (I am sure I stated snow not ice ph34r.gif )
I hope you and yours are well soon!

Take care Cyn. Rest and heal. Art will wait.

Oh golly! I'm not a big fan of winter either. I had to walk home today from school in the freezing rain while trying to coordinate walking on the ice; all while carrying an 11x14 sketchbook. I must have been quite a sight! Well good luck cyn, and remember that everything happens for a reason tongue.gif
bigs
Cyn, are you sure that your family wasn't auditioning for the next National Lampoon movie??? tongue.gif

But on a serious note if you do feel it is your tailbone get it checked out - over 30 years ago (Good Grief!!!! ohmy.gif ) well now that I feel ancient - I was mustering cattle (that's rounding them up in Aussie speak) and I had a sneaky horse - waited till I stood up in the stirrups to do something and wasn't holding with my knees & she reared dumping me unceremoniously off the back end.

We all thought it was embarrassingly hilarious. But I had cracked my coccyx and didn't realise it until years later. I just didn't let the pain stop me and we all laughed about the horse whenever I had trouble sitting - I still shuffle in the seat in movies etc because sitting in the one spot gets painful - get it checked out if the pain is worse than you would expect.

If its just the gluteous maximus then have a good laugh - I agree with you it's the best medicine biggrin.gif

wub.gif Of course you know Cyn I love you and you are a dear friend.....I am so sorry to hear all this..I am glad you are still in good humor and spirits...you are in my prayers...and I wish you and your son's a speedy recovery.

I always remember this saying........all is not butter that comes from the cow.....IPB Image

Sending wishes for a quick recovery for you and your son. Glad your son landed in a soft place.

I am glad to know you take hard times well ... I too have fallen down my steps three times now this winter ..two because of the ice and the third because a new paper was thrown on my step and a slight bit of snow covered it so i did not see ..the plastic with the snow well together it makes kinda a slide lol and down I went . Boy as we get older we dont get back up as fast as we used to . I do hope you get back to us soon .. but do rest up .. your number one .
Judyvan
Cyn, let me add best wishes for a speedy recovery. I agree that a sense of humor can get us through the worst of times. Please rest and take good care of yourself. This will probably be hard since you have a mother and a son who need you. Call on all your neighbors and friends to help.

Love,

Judyvan
Cyn
Thank you, my wonderful friends for the well wishes.. You sure are a great bunch. wub.gif

As to neighbors, they are gone for the winter and as to friends, they work and have their own families and issues. I only have one brother and he is at his book signings. (He's an author).

So here I am, as always, but it's far better to be overwhelmed than under loved or bored and I am far from bored. I don't have time... And such is the price of popularity. laugh.gif I give all credit to the grace of God, without whom, I would crumble.. biggrin.gif

Cyn,

So sorry to hear of your fall, and your son's fall, and hope you are both recovering well! I'm sure you good humor will do a lot to keep you going, and to keep your family going, but wanted to add my good wishes to those of everyone else's.

Warm healthy wishes!
Marilyn
