Hello everyone,

I am a new teacher and I am starting a high school art course. One objective is Subject matter and expressive intention can be depicted with a variety of notational marks. I am at a lost to what this means. If anyone can shed some light for me I would be really appreciated.

I think that's artspeak for drawing biggrin.gif

I suppose what it might be trying to get at is the idea that line-quality or mark-quality should be trying to communicate a mood - diagonals for dynamism, horizontals for calm, curves for softness, spiky lines for aggression, and so on... that sort of thing.

I do wish the bureaucrats who write this sort of ponderous bilge would go somewhere else to indulge their literary pretensions, and leave teaching drawing to people who actually can draw (and write coherent english too ! )

If you can draw reasonably, you don't need that sort of junk telling you what to do with your students - and if you can't, its not going to help you.

I agree. This preposterous use of ineptitudinal diatribe is positively insulphurating in it's exasperational intonations!
