This is my favorite drawing of my three most precious dogs . The little maltese passed away. The center Honeybear we had to give up because he was biting when we wanted to put his harness on for going out. We are older and couldn't give him enough exercise that he needed so had to let another couple adopt him. He now gets two walks a day of several miles and is very happy. Right after we got him i was playing with him in my recliner and he got a needle and swallowed it. I spent $1000 for the operation to get it out. Those were sad days of recovery but he came through with flying colors. We still miss him and love him very much.
The little Chihuahua is our current dog and he is great. He is a lot easier to manage also. I had to draw this picture and they are very excellent likenesses. I think this is my best drawing of dogs.

I have a few favorites but then again I only have a few since I'm new at this drawing thing, LOL

Olliver and Jazz I love the little red fox...reminds me really of my own little Chico (Chihuahua) He looks much like that and is the same color.
Really great drawings here. I always know when a drawing I am working on is going to soar or fall short because of how I am feeling while working with it. Most of my drawings fall short and I think it is because the subject matter hasn't really grabbed me..maybe because I haven't really thought it out just right. I think the ones that fail is because I had the urge to draw but couldn't settle on subject matter that I cared deeply about. Sometimes I will pick a work that I really like and try to draw it. You can learn a lot by trying to copy lines and forms that are used by talented artists.

Do you still have the reference photo for the marble one? I know it was in a challenge a long time ago when I wasn't here and I had been trying to go through the old challenges but never found it.

And as always everybody loves that drawing... except me.

like Ernest i had a hard time in choosing but i think that this charcoal work is one of my best pieces so far for the medium and drawing in general.
