Created in the 5 c. AD, shaolin monastery is the starting point of Chinese martial arts and has been exported to Japan together with Zen buddhism.
I just added a video on my pages from the performance we attended at Shaolin monastery. Later in this thread I will add the pages with the temple and pagodas forest.
Please be patient while the movie is loading wink.gif

Elena, i have tried to view this movie twice, there is nothing there my dear. you remember the song 'everybody was kung fu fighting, those kicks were fast as lightning.? well at any rate, there was no one kung fu fighting biggrin.gif i waited 'patiently' as instructed and still nothing happened..perhaps i was waiting 'wrong'?

I tease you, but really i get a 'cannot display webpage' when i go to it from my blog, and only a title page via drawspace.let me know when all is squared away wink.gif

I just got a black screen under the title - was it night time?
ElenaM
Norma you need to wait for the black screen to upload the video. It takes a while. For those of you who cannot find pluggins, real sorry. I use real player. Right now I want to convert AVI format to SWF flash but cannot find a converter that is free or free of bugs.
ElenaM
ok, folks, it's a trial version and it ...works.

Steve, to be frank, I wasn't impressed with the show which lasted 1 hour. Many of the moves are also done in gymnastics and I used to do some of them when in school(up to 18 y.old)
Some other stuff was with breaking glass with a string, breaking metal on the head, etc.The show was rather commercial oriented, I prefer something serious without music or talk. Also the monks looked brain washed and one dimension, the ability to fight.I think they can do this without asking people to volunteer and be asked to imitate the monks which ends up in laughter and boos from the audience and then they sell you the pictures taken while you were tumbling on the floor.Anyway not in my taste.

I think it's a shame. The mystery is devalued by this kind if circus performance.

Got the video ok this time, but wish I hadn't bothered - don't want to sound ungrateful, Elena, but I really didn't enjoy it much.
ElenaM
It's ok Norma. I fully agree with you.The trip to the monstery wasn't worth for that part only.
