Just bought speed ball dipping pen set. Never used one nore watched anyone use one. I dip in indian ink or drop some on the nib in the concaved area and then.. Which way to hold the nib, concave down or up? In other words does the side of the nib with the ink go towards the paper or away. Some nibs work bothe ways others only work with the ink hanging over the paper.
Thanks in advance!
Doug
I did a bunch of googles but could not find the answer to this..

The hollow side goes towards the paper.

Thanks Ernest! After much playing I figured that was the proper way since the split needs to open to feed ink.

aww your question was answered already, not that thats a bad thing xD
have fun with the dipping pen! Personally, I love them even though it is relatively easy to screw up and get a blotch

You probably know this already but be sure and use "Bristol" paper with ink. That way it won't bleed and distort your lines.

Thanks Feint and Calvin! Any info is helpfull since I know NOTHING about these tools. My main reason I wanted these were to attemp to use them to sign my airbrush paintings. I can use the airbrush or a hair brush but I thought these would help to keep the signiture tiny. I hate to spoil the painting with a large sloppy signiture. I have yet to come up with a signiture that looks artistic.
Normaly one a buy a tool or medium, I will end up trying it for the job it was created for! I will have to pick up some bristol board or maybe some illustration board to have on hand when I give it a go!

I'm looking forward to seeing what you've done (even if it's your new signature!)
