hi my name is Lauren, I’m 16 and I live in Florida. I’ve been drawing for as long as I can remember. Horses have always been a huge part of my life, when I was really little I would save up every nickel, penny, and any other type of change i found so i could buy my self riding lessons (though my amount usually only added up to a buck or so my parents threw in the rest) I’ve been riding forever. And like the influence on my life horses have a great influence on my art. I draw them constantly, and I am commissioned from time to time to draw people’s horses and such. I am a bit well frankly I am very weary of my art work. I post doodles and sketches but rarely do I ever show anyone my actual artwork. Though slowly Im starting to shine a little light on my pieces but for now please enjoy my snapshots and sketches. rolleyes.gif

Hello Lauren,

Welcome to Drawspace. I took a peek at your snapshots and artwork. I can't believe you say they are unfinished pieces. They look just fine to me. I think you are being too critical of your art ... and letting your scanner get the best of you. Of course you will never get perfect scans without very expensive equipment to do it. I wouldn't be that critical.

The main point of submitting your artwork is to display to us what your style is and to help you with putting your ideas and skills down on paper. Now that I've said that, don't fiddle around anymore with these drawings (because they will never get more done than they already are) and get busy with some of the lessons here. From the looks of what you have submitted so far, I don't think you need to go all the way back to square one, just look for something that you feel you need improvement in and start working it.

I'm sure, if you get some good guidance and practice those skills, you will quickly lose that uncertainty you have about your art. You have posted some very good references. I like the hoof shot and may take on that one myself.

One of the best ways to improve on your skills would be to attempt doing the Drawing Challenge. There are three topic references to choose from and then when you post your work, there are some very good critics and teachers who will be more than glad to offer you assistance in helping you improve what you present.

actually I did finish those sketches, I just cant put them on here because my crappy scanner finally broke.

and my camera is MIA, Im guessing I left it at the barn and its been there for a week exposed to the mass amounts of dust and such and probably struggling.

my other stuff is far too big to scan anyway, I dont show my actual artwork because it usually is done when Im deep in an emotion.

or has things in it that are meaningful for me, memories, past experiences and such. and honestly, I just dont want to. Im a very independent person, and I keep most things to myself esp my artwork. its just how I am. If I dont actually know you other than a few comments on here, and you certainly dont know or understand me, and they wouldnt have the inpact on you or your opinons or anyones judgement or critiques as someone who knew me well.

I like the hoof shot and may take on that one myself.
^im a tad confused on that statement, you are going to take my picture and post it somewhere?

maybe Im just reading it completely wrong I've hada long day.

Hi Lauren, great to see you here. I'm sure you'll enjoy the forum and participating in challenges or simply displaying your work.

I have a horse too but haven't done a lot of drawings of her yet. They're coming! I look forward to seeing more of your work. smile.gif

Lauren,

I wasn't trying to confuse you at all. I was referring to the snapshot you submitted into your gallery. The one that showed only the hooves of your horse. I was mistaken and didn't notice that it was only submitted into your gallery. Most people that submit photos to this site, do so for inspirational use. My only intention was to use your photo as reference for a drawing. But, since you only posted it to your gallery, then I would have to obviously ask your permission.

Normally, since this is a drawing site, the gallery is most often used for drawn material that you created personally. Members in most cases provide photos to share with other members for inspirational use. I am sorry that I naturally made that assumption from your photos. If you desire to not allow that, then it is totally in your right.

Respectfully,
Eric

thats what I thought you were implying, its completely fine thank you for asking, one of my biggest "pet peeves" is when someone draws a photogragh i have taken without permission, or completely mimics some of my art. so thank you for asking and it is completely alright.
