Full Version: parents, what do you think

I have been toying with the idea of starting a trade for children, and am looking for input from parents. I thought it would be nice to involve them in art and connecting with other children here on drawspace. I was thinking the ages could go from like 9-12 (nothing set in stone) and perhaps it would be better to just let them be creative, and not really put a theme out there for them. Of course it would be up to the parents to see their child followed through, which is another great lesson in itself, to fullfill obligations.
so if you think it may be something your child is interested in, please let me know here, and if we get say 5 children or so I think we could get them started on something they will love.

Danielle would be up for it. You might stretch the age range on the upper end.

thats awesome..yes, age is not set in stone..not at all. I think it is a good idea..do you think it is best to go themeless for them?
paulette4
I believe I have two that would be interested.
I think a trade with their peers would be excellent!

My Martin got very excited about this. biggrin.gif We would certainly participate.

Mindy also expressed an interest for her child.
thanks for the support guys, lets see how many more we get and we dont want to overwhelm the kids so maybe we should limit to say 10.what do you guys think of that idea..or maybe no limit but if the group gets large we split it up for them, it is suppose to be fun for them, not stressful at all.
oliverandjazz
wonderful sips. so far that is like 5 already..i shall wait for input as to whether we should go themeless, or just be creative, once we get that squared away, i will go ahead and start the thread..I am excited for them.. wink.gif biggrin.gif
not only do they get to connect and get creative and grow, but they get to look forward to mail, and that is always exciting for children

Unfortunately my "baby" is 30! so I don't have any children to help with the trade. It sounds like a great idea and I hope it goes smoothly.

Yes, I believe my 9 yr old son would be interested in doing this, and he loves getting mail. It will also give him experience addressing the envelopes and adding postage. I think it will be more interesting if we let them choose their own themes, because restricting it will probably trigger that panicky "can't do it" response. wink.gif

Kim, I was kind of thinking of yours when I said we should stretch out that range; they might be too old to WANT to participate though.

I think having no theme is the best idea; just a general ATC exchange, whatever you want to draw. Many young artists have pretty narrow comfort zones.
