I have 2 questions, just of out of curiosity.
Who is admin?
Was there an old drawspace? [in the first topic ever, dragonshade mentions old members re-forming]
Thanks in advance, just wondering

Admin = administration - those people mostly behind the scene who keep the site running smoothly. I can't give you names as I don't know them and they don't need to be known in the same way as you don't know the names of people who make your telephone line available to you each day. You're just grateful they're there and they know how to fix things when they go wrong! smile.gif

I have no idea what dragonshade was talking about - people who used to come to the site and then left perhaps?

I have wondered about the "old Drawspace" too. If you read some of the oldest posts in this "General Discussion" forum, it's pretty clear that there was, indeed, an "old Drawspace", and that the migration to the new one preserved the login info for the old users but little else; in particular, all the old forum and gallery content was wiped. Somewhere I remember reading reference to problems with hackers; perhaps the old site succumbed to vandalism of some kind.

I don't know who all is around these days who was here in the "old days" (2006 and earlier). Anybody want to fill us in?

Giggle! Good one Lance!

I'm one of the elusive Admins!

The old Drawspace refers to a time known as Pre-hacker (grin) and dates back around three or four years. Drawspace has been around since the late 90's but back then was called FineArtEducation.com (traffic still comes through that old URL).

Many of our wonderful members remember the time when we were off line for several days. Since then we bought our own dedicated server, which is now straining under our recent growth. We have a brand new monster of a server (arrived last week) that will be set up over the next week.

Also, we have had a couple of brown-outs during the past week, when the site struggled to keep up with traffic. Once the new server is up and running, we'll be good for another couple of years before we need a third server.
