A round of applause for everyone!
Cyn
Wow.. Great pics Nathalie. I sure hope I get some time this week. I would love to try a couple.
Amanda0118
Hmm This is the second time I'm posting this. Not sure where my last one went.
Nathalie Renaud
Ha Ha,

I knew Odin would be popular. I would have bet on it. The face is so expressive. It made me think of Maire (see the self-portrait with a twist thread). biggrin.gif

Amanda, it was fast! The tongue is twisted hey! Good drawing. The expression is right.
mumwond
Hi
This is my effort for this week. The figure is done using HB and 4B pencils and the rocks with a charcoal pencil.
ElenaM
Mumwond, your drawing is excellent. It has style and rendered the boy's face and figure accurately. Bravo!
Nathalie Renaud
I completely agree. I'm always amazed at how a few strokes can give the essence of a subject. Well done

here is my try..first time using these watercolor pencils

Nathalie Renaud
Very good rendering of the subject and colors. I also like the way you did the background.

What about the jazzman?
oliverandjazz
[attachmentid=9620]i forgot about jazzman..he is not a very good job..he was rushed and i ran myself off the paper..he is freehand
ElenaM
I was attracted by the two portraits but the boy seemed to me of a higher difficulty so I picked the jazzman.Very challenging too, with a lot of value drawing to do,something I couldn't deliver from lack of practice, and also for using writing paper and pencil. But wait to see...i bought today art supplies and I am ready for the next challenge. Until then here is my New Orleans trombone player.

Kaly
Lovely pics Nathalie
Nice drawings everyone

[attachmentid=9623]
It's 2.40 a.m. in this side of the Atlantic, I wasn't sleepy so I drew Odin. Poor guy doesn't look like himeself blink.gif

15 minutes B1 and 4B pencils on A4 printer paper

bravo! excellently done
ElenaM
Oliverandjazz, thanks a lot. I like yours too. Has more style, your style. Mine is just an unfinished copy. It's not easy to render white on white paper. I have to learn that.
kim1963
wow you have all done some nice stuff ...reat pictures to choose from .. I think I have to try the cat .
mrstarstuff
I'll have to sit out these, but you young ladies are doing very good jobs with them.

John wink.gif
Nathalie Renaud
Oliverand jazz: I think it's a pretty good drawing you did. It has style. We're not always good judges of ourselves.

Elena: I like yours too. Rendering the right proportions like you did is not easy. And you are also very harsh on yourself

Kaly: Nice drawing, I hope drawing a yawn helped go back to bed and sleep. wink.gif

Cyn, Kim and John: Can't wait to see the results. Kim I would have bet on you doing either the cat or the flowers.
drawman
Here's my attempt at the lion, it looks like a dog, but at least I can only improve... blush.gif

I used a grid, but obviously need a lot more practice...

These are wonderful references! I want to do the cat, but I want to take my time with it. So, I'll probably be posting my result much later.

Tony
Nathalie Renaud
Drawman,
you did not choose the easiest one. Like I've been told lately, faces that are not facing or at 90 degrees off are harder to draw. I still think you did a good job. And everyone can still improve.

Tony,
take youre time, it will most probably be worth the wait.
mls
I really want to draw this cat! Great pic! biggrin.gif
But I don't know if I can make it until 05 april! Let's try... rolleyes.gif
Orleanska
I'll try to draw Odin too... The picture of him is just too adorable, but also very difficult. We'll see, maybe something good comes out of it happy.gif
oliverandjazz
[attachmentid=9639]ok...here is my attempt at this challenge and it was indeed very challenging..i found this one to be very hard

Me either, so I'm going to post later. There are actually quite a few drawing challenges that I want to submit my work to. I've downloaded the pics I want to draw. Some day, I'll get around to drawing them... I think.... smile.gif

Jazzmanian
Hey with a username like mine, it's pretty obvious which one I'm gonna choose to work on.

Glad to finally join in a challenge again. I don't seem to have much drawing time these days.

Here's the tuba player (my attempt).... (Pencils on photocopy paper) (edited to correct spelling)

great job..even captured the stickers...love it
Nathalie Renaud
Mls, Orleanska, Tony come on you can do it!

Oliverandjazz good work on a hard to draw piece. But how much time do you spend in a week? I've seen quite a lot of work from you this week. Are you sleeping?

Jazzmanian, welcome back and I like your drawing. You did indeed get the stickers in.

Can you believe this guy was playing the same song as the almost sleeping drum player I just drew? And it was a lively brass band song! And there was a maybe 14 year old KID with them playing the trumpet and singing with great talent. In the street. Imagine...New-Orleans

lol...nathalie, almost all of what is listed is old work...like a couple of years..i am trying to sneak all my old stuff in as well as the occasional new stuff..but i am now doing daycare and dont have much time so i do some of the newer stuff, such as these challenges at night..

it sounds like you went to my beautiful hometown during either mardi gras or jazz fest..no matter the party is actually going year round in some spots..
thanks for the encouragement

kay
Cyn
This was MUCH harder than I at first thought. No stickers. Too hard.
I am lucky I even made the tuba look like a tuba...sort of.. laugh.gif

a fine job indeed..good job on the skin coloring too
Cyn
Thank you!! I would be totally lost without a lot of erasers. laugh.gif I love your cat. In color yet.. Great job.. and the tuba man. Everyone has done so well on these.
Lance500
Great photo and deceptively difficult. About 2 hours on printer paper

you really did a fantastic job on this..
Nathalie Renaud
Cyn, Lance,

I had the intent of taking my own challenge this afternoon, (and then answering to myself tongue.gif ) but then I looked back at the pictures, and then I read your comments. Hum you're right, they are interesting but not easy.

I applaude your determination, and results. smile.gif The dark skin is hard to draw with expression and you did a good job. Charles picture is very complex and has a lot of details into it Bravo!

Wonder if I will be able to push myself until tomorrow. Maybe I shoud start on it right now. The problem is I need a lot of time to make my drawing look decent. Yeah I know, practice, practice, practice.

Kay,

it was a very ordinary week-end, no special event, but just like Quebec in it's summer festival. I loved it.
Danne Lynn
You have all drawn these pictures really great! I can't even touch this challenge. Bravo. biggrin.gif
Mr Ofir
Hi everyone! great challenge, here's my Odin
[attachmentid=9662]
Nathalie Renaud
We'll I've also chosen Odin. Here's mine.

[attachmentid=9664]

Mr Ofir, your style is getting through to me. Keep up the good work!
ElenaM
I like the last two Odin versions very much. each one has its own style. Congrats!
Lance500
Great angry, angry cats!
Cyn
I love these challenges. There are so many talented people on here. I love the cats. I didn't do odin because fur still terrifies me. rolleyes.gif
Nathalie Renaud
Well, the day is about to end, thanks to all of you for participating in my weekly drawing challenge. We've seen some pretty nice work.

By Tuesday or wednesday I will be compiling everyones drawing and posting it all together just like Paulette did. I think it's pretty cool to see everyones drawings together on the first page.

So if you have additional drawings to post until then, they will be included.

Don't forget to take a look at Judy's next week's challenge.
Nathalie Renaud
I've done it, all the drawings are together on the first page. Take a peek!

Thank you for all the good work in participating in my challenge.
ElenaM
What is the address of the first page? My first page is always the lesson page even when I am logged off.
paulette4

She actually means the first page of this thread.

Nathalie the pictures look great!
ElenaM
Thanks , Paulette.
