I know you didn't just accidentally stumble in here! You came here with a purpose and I know you will leave with a bunch of skills you will use for the rest of your life. The lessons here are outstanding for teaching a true beginner as yourself everything you need to know. Start out with a quick look at the first lesson. It will give you a good insight to all the terminology used throughout this site and in the forums. It also provides examples so you can refer back to it whenever you see something you don't quite understand in one of the lessons.

Looking forward to seeing some of your artwork. You do have it in you, let us help you bring it out.
