Since we're in the middle of the spring I thought anyone would enjoy some "fresh" photos with vivid colors, sun light and happiness happy.gif

All levels of drawing are encouraged to participate!

The goal of this thread is to enable and encourage individuals to practice their drawing skills, learn new techniques and have fun! If you just want to sketch that?€™s fine. If you want to create a complex, detailed drawing, that?€™s great too. You will get out of this what you want. The references used are from my own personal reference library of images that I have photographed and I release them here as not under copyright, meaning you can use them as you wish for drawing.

You will be challenged by some aspect of all references most likely as you all will have different strengths and weaknesses in your ability to translate the images to paper.

Reminder:

This is a DRAWING challenge. Therefore please confine your artistic endeavours to some form of drawing: graphite, coloured pencil, pen and ink or charcoal.

There is no ruling on what size your final drawing or sketch should be. Smaller, sketchbook sizes will provide a smaller file size which is easier for loading onto the thread.

If you would like assistance or advice, please ask for it and I will be more than willing to try to guide you.

This challenge will last for one week. At that time, all challenge drawings should be submitted to this thread.

I have offered 3-5 reference images to choose from. The images are also provided in greyscale. Seeing the images in black and white gives a better sense of basic values.

I have kept the images to simple shapes that still provide challenges. Block out your basic shapes first then work the details into them, rechecking proportion and measurement against other reference points in your drawing.

If you have an interest in hosting a challenge, please see the list in the pinned area of general discussions.

These are the photos:

Hristos a inviat!Elena am niste culori pentru scolari vechi de 15 ani, sunt foarte uscate si de aceea prefer oil pastels si crayons, dar am incercat cu ele asa *** sunt.

My Cp pencils are 15 years old and dry and i prefer crayons and oil pastels instead. yet the challenge was in CP.

Adevarat a inviat! happy.gif

Decided to play around today with pastel pencils so did a little with the flower on brown paper.

This one didn't scan as well as I wanted. I'll post two of them from different scans.

[Hi Hellen
Thanks for lovely photos. The jumping girl really made me feel good - she looks so happy and carefree. I hope I've managed to catch her feelings.
bkluver
Bottles; glass and metal. This is something I really like drawing. I'm posting two copies - one I scanned in color, the other black and white. I think the color scans sometimes look better even though, of course, it is all done in #2 Pencil.

[attachmentid=10095]
Venus asked if my tulip was oil pastel - it is Stabilo CarbOthello chalk pastel pencils. BUT, I decided to give the oils a try. I have actually done very little with them before. Hope no one minds that I pulled up an older Challenge picture that I really liked and thoroughly enjoyed myself with oil pastels!! Can you tell?
Thanks for reminding me, Venus, to challenge myself even more.

Here's my attempt at the tulip in coloured pencil. Found it quite difficult! I find it easier with graphite, but would like to be able to use these too.

this drawing was done before discovering drawspace

i drew it by looking at the objects, not from a reference photo, i took the picture (that is posted in the weekly challenge) after drawing them rolleyes.gif

[attachmentid=10113]

mine seems a little sketchy if compared with bkluver's drawing sad.gif

Hellen, Thank you for this challenge your pics are realy nice and fresh.

Everyone has done such a great job, lovely drawings guys!!! love them all.

This was a real challenge to me because I never was good at drawing glass, so I tried the perfume bottles, I think my proportions didn't come out right but my goal was to try making it look like glass!!Have to practise more of these.
