This heavily illustrated lesson challenges you to rely primarily on your visual skills as you combine lines with shapes to create a cartoon drawing of a baby mermaid.

Well, I did the lion and koala a looooong time ago, and I just discovered I cannot do this lesson well yet

My brother took my drawing pencils and sharpies

how nice of him.
I guess I'll step back a few lessons and try again

I think your lessons are great and are really helpful to a novice like myself. I find this lesson hard as the lines are really faint and hard to see. Please could you darken the lines up if you have time, as my eyes are hurting trying to make out the shapes and lines in this tutorial. Thank you

I didn't do well on the hands and the left fin but the rest of the drawing is OK. This is a good lesson in proportion and shapes.

This was by far the most difficult drawing I've done since beginning the lessons. I had much difficulty with the fingers. The final product is not great, but quite an accomplishment for me.

This is my merbaby. I am not too happy with it, drawing in pen leaves no room for mistakes. He looks like a little old man instead of a baby. His right arm is too small and the fingers on the left hand are all wrong. I also made a mistake with the fins and hair. I will do another one in the future. Here he is.

I thought this was a good lesson. I re-did it 3 times but the third time it came out pretty good beside some minor mistakes.

Well by far for me this was the hardest drawing to get a nice finish with...tried to finish with marker outline, had problems with the hands and a bit of the tail but mostly the hands, I was a bit off......a bit TOO big, have to practice more with proportion!

I've done all the lessons in this section and though I thought before they are a little bit useless, I've changed my mind. Ive never thought that drawing such simple cartoons may be so enjoyable and instructive. Thank you!

Here is my attempt at the merbaby. I am pretty happy with it considering I havent painted much. Had the most trouble with the hands and arms I think.
I also tried coloring it.
