Your're welcome Brain,

you don't have to kick your self...just stop finding excuses...start with small steps and a daily routine.

I lost years of practice and was very frustrated because I had that "time excuse" until I have realized that I am the boss in my life. I am responsible for what I spend most of my energy in my life: Things I am passioned about and successfull in or things I don't like and I have to kick myself to do it because I think they are important.

At that moment you take the serious decision to go where your heart is - the rest will fall into place.

Nobody can stop you - only yourself.

Thanks!
I've registered a week ago, and I wasn't sure about some things on this site, because Iknow for web about pfotograpfy wich is very much alike, but has some strict rules about how to put a photo, where, how many posts you have to have, and so on...so I was a bit confused with this one...
But I like it really very much by now...
Very usefull, and really a lot of nice people...smile.gif

Hi Bojana, glad to hear and hope I helped..... Welcome to Drawspace.. smile.gif

Hello! I have just read the Forums. Trying hard not to be to formal. I would like you all to know that it was allways my ambition to retire early and paint. Well now I am retired, have built a studio at the back of the house, and cant get the inspiration to use it. I know what the problem is, a complete absence of discipline. I look out of the window and guess what? I am out of the door wandering through the woods to the beach. It's there that I will find some one to gossip to. Put the world to rights and allways have a good natter. Trouble is the world has'nt changed and I dont have much painting done.
Enough! I have dabbled in Pastel, I enjoy it, mucked about sketching, and now im'e developing an interest in Watercolour. This I think i could realy enjoy. All I need is the discipline.

I am new to your community and I look forward to doing the lessons. I love drawing but haven't been active with drawing for sometime. I feel like I have forgotten the little I knew. I can't wait to get started. It's great to know there are people here who can give a helping hand if needed.

[attachmentid=6766]Hi everyone,
I too am new here, I have had a quick look around, a closer look at the lessons provided by Brenda Hoddinott, they appear to give lots of information and direction so I'm looking forward to participating in them. I haven't hand drawn for a few years now, hopefully I still know how to hold a pencil, lol.
Everything I've seen so far is fantastic, so thanks to all the lovely people out there/in here who provide help.
The pencil drawing attached is something I did back in 2003.

hugs ElleK

Hi everyone, (newbie here)
My name is Tony and I am so glad that I found this website. During my early teenage years I created funny comic characters with my friend Jeff just for fun during school. We both had the talent but I never realized it until recently. In my early 20's I bought me a sketch book just to mess around when I was bored. I started drawing faces, objects, and people without any art classes or professional classes, just with a regular H2 pencil while listen to music. My drawings looked impressive back then but I didn't see the potential I had or talent that I possessed. I stopped drawing thinking that my art was just a regular old skill that any person would have. Boy I was wrong, after graduating from the University of Phoenix at the end of 2006, I had tons of free time on my hands. So while cleaning out my closet I came in contact with my old sketch book and decided to take a peek. I looked at my drawings and my jaw just about fell off; there was no way that I could have done that (I told myself), they looked awesome. So basically it's been about three or four months since I started drawing again and my art work keeps getting better and more polished. I can't wait to post what I have so far in the gallery. I named myself White Warrior because I believe that there are good artists that draw to make people happy and joyful while evil artist draw to promote violence and hate. God gave me this talent to show love and happiness through my drawings. I love drawing and wished that I had never stopped drawing in the first place, but I guess that's life. Give me some time to get familiar with Drawspace and I will become more active in forums and galleries. Thanks Brenda H. for creating this wonderful website were talented people all around the world can get together and have fun.

wub.gif I'm just so in love with this site. I've been surfing the web for about two years now looking for a good art or drawing site. A good place to get and/or share ideas; a place that would help to re-inspire my love of art and drawing.

I particularly love looking at the works of the amateur artist (and the drawings of young children). Most of my really, REALLY favorite arts and drawings are amongst today's current artists, amateurs and otherwise. I'm gonna enjoy this...

paulette4
posting picture in thread....

When you "add reply" at the bottom of the forum, you get your message area. Scroll down and you will see "file attachments", click the browse button. This will bring up your files, open the correct folder, then open your file. Next click "add this attatchment", Then click add into post. Scroll down "Preview post" then if all is good "add reply".

Putting a picture in the gallery...

Click on "My drawspace" (top left),
Click on "add/edit gallery albums" (middle),
click on "create album" (Bottom middle), give it an album name and description, then check off that you want it to be public ( so everyone can share your progress),
then click "create album", ( you can have one big album or you can have a couple of albums with different titles),
Now click on "select an operation",
click on "upload image",
write a caption for your drawing and a description,
click the "browse button" (bottom), this will bring up your computer files find your drawing (it must be no bigger than 200kb, I send mine to a drawspace file and make them smaller at the same time using my camera program)(if you don't know how to do this someone else will be able to explain it),
double click on your drawing,
Next click "post it".
You now have an album and a picture in the gallery.
When you are looking at your new album, there is a button that says "new image", this will go directly to the page to add an album.

Hi, I am new here.
I found Drawspace a couple of weeks ago. I was actually looking for help for my nine year old daughter, who has talent and likes drawing, and ended up doing a lesson with her. It was one of the bestest things I have ever done. I always liked to draw, since I was a kid, specialy female figures and faces but never took any lessons. Now I am doing at least one drawing a day, and
I can already see myself improving. The most amazing thing is how I actually SEE the world around me now. All I can say is I am very happy to have found this site!

Hello, I am a newcomer and am excited to be here. I have started drawing lessons at our local state college and I love it. I am a late bloomer in the drawing avenue but that's ok, keeps the brain still working.
Thanks for having me. Mona

Hello Everyone! Just joined last night! My name is Melissa Hubbard and I'm from a very small town in Idaho... not much here to encourage artists. I've been looking for a place to meet other artists and educate myself on all sorts of new techniques and make some new friends! I'm a stay-at-home mom, so I really don't get out much. (NOT to mention that we have been snowed in since December!) Not complaining... we REALLY need this beautiful white stuff!!!! Well, enough rambling, and HELLO! laugh.gif

Hi everyone! I discovered Drawspace last spring, I started studying the lessons, I worked in the summer and finally decided to upload my pictures and introduce myself! I love drawing and I always drew but following my instinct. I've always wanted to do something more but it was impossible. So I tried on my own but something was missing! You can't imagine how important you are for some people like me who can't take courses because of work but love art and painting! Saying "thanks" is not enough! I feel that I improve and it's like finding my way finally! Now my only problem is lack of free time! Thank you again for all this! (Seeing my pictures in a virtual gallery makes me really proud!!)
paulette4
Welcome!
You have done beautifully on the lessons.

Hi!

I discovered Drawspace some days ago. Wandered a bit around the site and was confused at first. I'm loving the idea now! My english isn't very good, it's not my mother language, I'm brasilian.

My name is Pedro and I uploaded my first drawing lesson at the album just a while ago. Hope to make all the lessons cause it's a real incentive to practice.

I usually speak like crazy, but I'm trying not to make to much mistakes at my writing. tongue.gif

Odrop,
Great job on the lesson! Join us in the general discussion forum also.

[color=#66CCCC] Hello everyone. I am new to this website and this forum. I use to draw as a kid and a little older. I had a bad experience in regards to art. For MANY years I doodled and drew different things. I always threw them away or hid them. Then I met a wonderful, supportive, and inspirational person. The in-laws have been VERY supportive also. Unbeknowst to me, my mother in law is a FANTASTIC artist. She has inspired me to openly do my art. I finally took a room in our house and turned it into a studio. I have found a new love for drawing. I am now experimenting with different aspects, styles, and ideas in art. I will popst some of my stuff for you all to look at. I would appreciate any and ALL critique. That is how we learn and sometimes it angers us and actually promotes more art. I look forward to seeing everyone's art and meeting new people.

Good evening every one local and regional the world over!

ph34r.gif

This kid has been looking for free lessons on drawing for a long time.
To the staff who made this, I am grateful for the effort put forth for this site.

To those of the forum, I hope to stick around here for as long this site exists and be around as often as I can.

(If I am not here as necessary for the account to exist, my job yanked me around.)

-Reason
I have hit a snag, my writing gets repetitive and I need to improve my drawing (it ain't developed even for beginner) to add another dimension of perception.
