Hi,another newbie question. Everytime i draw something with graphite i get smears and smudges. Is there a way to avoid this? I always make sure my hands clean before i start, but it still happens.Right now i'm using strathmore drawing paper, acid free, medium weight. Is it the paper? Also is this paper good for drawing and good for CP?
In refference to my CP post the other day thank you. Elena i'm not very good at drawing nature or anything else for that matter. So i would still appreciate any advice about trees, leaves water etc. I just love nature scenes and eventually portraits.
I would also like to take this time to say that if i don't respond right away, please don't think i'm being rude.I'm a maintenence superintendent for a highrise apartment building and i'm not home for 2-3 days at a time, so i'm away from home and a computer.
One last question, can you tell me a good name brand for graphite and CP, also for paper. I'll undrstand if you don't want to endorse one prduct over another.
Thank you Ralph

try keeping a piece of paper between your hand and your work...strathmore should be fine but stonehenge for color pencil is really great..you can lay lots of layers..prisma color or any artist grade color pencil that is light fast is fine

Hi,

the paper between your hand and the drawing works very well. I've also worked with a small glove with cut fingers on my bigger drawing.

I work with "Cretacolor fine art" graphites and I love them.
