Are there any rules that stop you from entering more than one juged show with any given piece of work?whether you have been placed or not with that piece.
As my husband pointed out, dogs are entered into many shows, even after they have won first place, so why should the art world be any different?

smile.gif Andyart,
From my understanding of art shows, which I am still learning the basics, you can enter into more than one as long as the dates of the show don't conflict with each other. That and if you want to enter the same thing in another show that might start after the first you entered, don't make it available for sale. If you make it for sale and it sells, then after the first show it would go to the person that bout it and not be available for the second. I know most juried and newer art shows also rewuire the peice to be less than 3 years old too and now know when I sign my art not to put a date on the picture, if I want to continue to enter it in shows. I hope this helps.

Thanks Venus, I hope to enter a small local arts & crafts show in August with a couple of my cp drawings.

I just read the rules for the show & it says "unaided" works, dose this mean anything I've done in a class enviroment is not accepted? I wanted to put in the 2 pics I did on here[coloured pencil lesson, with Islander & the gang].

smile.gif Andy, yea thats the new one. Basically, most of the "big" colored pencils shows aren't allowing work if you have had aided instructions from a teacher or other artist. Meaning if someone was coaching you or telling you an area that needed to be fixed, then it was aided and you can't use it as they gave suggestions and helped with it. Its a new thing they started and there was a big controversy on Wetcanvas a while back ago by it.

They are also saying that if work has been "published" meaning if it has been posted or comes from a reference on the internet that it is unaccepted too, though I do not know if it has gone through or not. The reason why they don't want it posted on the internet is so that a picture can not be claimed or copied by another artist and another artist can't help and give suggestive remarks to where you go and do what they suggested.

They are basically wanting it to be all your own work and if you use references they have to be from your camera with proof that it is all yours.

I can understand with reguard to the copyright aspect but it's now made me unsure of uploading anything to my gallery, other than my class learnt drawings[inc Drawspace lessons],just in case I decide I do want to exibit.
