Hi, I'm new her and just wanted to introduce myself! I ran across a link to this site yesterday and signed up straight away! There looks to be alot of talented and friendly people here to learn from and with. I'm the mother of 4 beautfiul girls and an artist whenever I can squeeze the time in! Have been back at my drawing board for a couple of years now after about a 20 year break. Wish I hadn't waited again to start!

Well thanks for letting me run on!
Laura

P.S.
This is my most rescent piece a quick one you may have seen it in the gallery, cause I wasn't sure where I should post this.

No, she is not my daughter. She is the daughter of a dear friend and this was her b-day gift yesterday.
She has since commissioned a portrait of her son to compliment her daughter's portrait. Our children play together and Li'l Miss Nina is a beautiful little girl inside and out! Thank you for the compliment! I was looking at your work in the gallery yesterday and if you just push those darks you will be just as good or better than me!!!

Hello Laura and welcome to the forum. Your drawing skills look fairly well polished to me. Lots of people come back to it after a break, me being one of those people.

It doesn't take long to get up to speed again. I look forward to seeing more of your work.

Venus,
Thank you, but I still have so much to learn and anyplace where people are willing to share their experiences and knowledge is where I want to be. This looks like a great place with lots of diversity!!!

That was a thrilling compliment. Thank you. Yes, I need to push the darks. I told someone recently that I think I am afraid of the dark. tongue.gif Until I joined this site, I didn't know there was more than my #2 crossword puzzle pencil. Most of my stuff was done with the old pencil. I'm so new at art though, that I haven't even been through ONE sketch book yet. (life happens). Thanks to the wonderful people here they have been telling me about mechanical pencils and charcoal. I'm all excited about trying something new for me. I do have to learn to use more than my "H" pencil. LOL
And again, I just love your art..

Cyn,
I just use an el cheapo .05 2hb mechanical pencil and alot of layering and a bit of blending!
Keep trying different things and learning and you'll go far!!!

RJS,
Thank you and I've gotten my skill level up a bit, but there are still so many artists out there who make me wanna just break my pencils...hehehe...so much to learn still!

Kim,
Thank you, but not yet...still a long way to go!!!!

Thank you all for the warm welcome!!!

ukartist,

Sorry I haven't been here to see this...as I said, when time permits...with 4 daughters it's not as often as I would like. Thank you for such a warm welcome...I'm sure as time goes on it will feel more like a 2nd family!

Thanks for being so sweet!
