hurray! it's time to make our own smilies

so these two weeks we will try o make our own emoticons: small faces (or icons) that represent emotions
they can be used in lots of places: forums, comments, even y!messenger
there are about 30 smilies here on drawspace and we can make more of therm and use them whenever (without occupying more space on the site's server) only by using a BB code and the link to the image which can be uploaded only once

some tutorials for animated smilies can be found
- here for image ready
- two for GIMP: one with basic stuff and one more advanced
and for static emoticons here is a good tutorial

everyone is encouraged to participate .. make how many small faces you want for any mood you like

So - I don't have the Browse box anymore. What happened to it? This reply box has a place to insert pictures but those have to be online already. How can you just upload pictures directly like usual?
Maybe they are working on it again? Or have they changed something just today that I didn't know?

For some reason there are days I get online and Drawspace doesn't let me do everything as normal. Guess that was one of those days. Today it is fine so I uploaded my little guy below.

and daniela, the bunny is nice, but it might me a little too big for a smiley

I'm getting frustrated, I downloaded gimp, and managed to do a little smile, but when I save it it is not moving in wich extention should I save it? can anyone help me?
allso when I copy the ones you did, in my computer they don't move eigther so what am I doing wrong??

I just downloaded gimp, and then followed the instructions on the tuturiols that Hellen as provided in the begining of this thread. give it a try
This is where I downloaded, http://baixaki.ig.com.br/download/The-GIMP.htm, but this is in portuguese, if you google I think you will find it in English, just look for gimp doanload ,

Yes - that's what I'm using, Adobe ImageReady. I actually went in to Photoshop and created the apple then moved it into ImageReady. There are a few extra things you can do in Photoshop but ImageReady is actually quite nice. I've never really messed with it before. But then, I've never made animated work.

this is the first short one for newbies > link

and the second one for more advanced users of photoshop > link2

when you open them in a browser's window just click on "download" in the left and then play

now it seems a lot simpler to me
