Hey guys

I am making a drawing for a friend and I want to frame it and give it to her but I am not sure about what to do to the drawing not get damaged. What should I do? Should I use Fixative Spray on it and then put it on a frame or can the frame protect it by itself? Does anybody has another idea to protect it?

Thanks
oliverandjazz
yep thats about it..draw it on acid free paper, with quality pencils and use a quality fixative then frame

If you haven't already thought of it, you should make sure to use mat "passe partout" to protect the drawing in the frame. This mat will prevent the drawing from touching the glass. The mat should also be acid free.

Yes RJ I agree ..I always use a matte ...one it looks much more beautiful displayed that way and it protects .

what I do is go to the local goodwill store and look for frames with mattes already in them .. I buy them at a very low price and take out the picture and add mine ... framing and mattes can be costly .

Rick,

I agree with the matte suggestion, but I never use fixative - I have lost all my shading nuances when I sprayed one pic and never have again - it shouldn't need a fixative if it is going to be framed with a matte, under glass. But if you feel it might be good try it first on a piece that doesn't matter so much and see what effect it has on your stuff - I would hate to see your hard fought for tones all lost.
