Well, I can't help it I have to tell people! blush.gif wave.gif

I am impatiently waiting for Mike Sibley's book "Drawing from Line to Life"! I bit the bullet and finally after drooling over it for 12 months, I did it! I know its not exciting for everyone else but I just love his negative drawing, and can't wait to see more of his methods with animal portraits and the scenes he places them in.

If you haven't seen his work before its worth a look at www.sibleyfineart.com . And he has a couple of tutorials on his site if you're interested. arts.gif

Sue, its well worth the investment. I bought Mike's book about a year or so ago and it cost me around $100 Canadian. It really does hold a wealth of information and everyone from beginner to advanced artist can benefit from it.

I took a class with Mike Sibley a couple of years ago and that was great too. Lots of information to share.

I really want it, too. Have not gotten around to buying it yet. . . wish it was sold in the US on Amazon or something.

Two of my daughters clubbed together to buy it for my birthday last year. It's really worth every penny as it's a drawing "bible".
It's one of those books that you can read over and over again and never tire of, AND every time you re-read it you seem to learn something new that you missed the last time!!!!

Thanks for making me feel good about my buy everyone. It has always seemed like such a good book - but just like everyone else it is expensive - sounds like the exchange rate in Canada is similar to Oz Jeanette. Just under the $100 AUD to get it here.

And as you reckon his classes are so good I will have to make plans.............he plans to come out to Australia................but I have to wait as its not until 2010, and he seems to be only doing a class in Melbourne, unless he has someone offer somewhere else for a class and he can get the numbers.

Fingers crossed he comes to Queensland or else come 2010, I 'm off to Melbourne!

Well, Sue, all we need to do is get at least 8 more people in SE Queensland interested, and he'll come here.

Cheers,

Craig.

Oops, my bad. we need another 18 people sad.gif

But if you look up his site, under the Australia tour 2010, he details what needs to be done.

..but I'm looking for suitable venues in other locations and states too - and co-organisers. If you think you could help find a suitable venue in your area and find, with my assistance, at least 20 people wishing to attend...

So, we have a little time to get this done. Who knows, we just might do it smile.gif

Cheers,

Craig.

OH YEAH! Mike's book is worth every penny twice over, no matter your skill level. I paid $90USD for #254 out of the first 1000 printed. I will admit (hanging my head in mock shame) that I literally ran to the mailbox every single day until I got it!

I have finally found a distributor in the US an sent in my payment for a copy yesterday! (It was out of stock for while so I had to wait).

Can't wait to get it!
bigs
Well I have to hang out for a little while longer sad.gif . Have just had an email from Mike Sibley, and he has been overseas so it was only posted yesterday. Like you bcoan, I have been running to the mailbox expectantly, everyday, oh well the exercise will do me good! tongue.gif laugh.gif

I bought the book, it is wonderful. A source of so much information. I nearly died when the charge went through, duh, I never even thought about the exchange rate! You won't regret your purchase. It is almost like having private lessons with the teacher sitting right next to you.

pmowen49, thanks for the input - everybody has reinforced the reasoning behind my buy - just need to finally get my sticky little fingers on it so I can have that "folio teacher" sitting next to me.
