I hope this topic wasnt already discussed in to much detail in other post. Im sure it has...sorry. But i sometimes have trouble getting back into drawing/sketching and when i do it's usually for a week then i stop again for sometimes months. I REALLY want to keep drawing on a regular basis and try to improve. Anybody else feel like this sometimes?? if so what helps you get back into it?? PLEASE REPLY WITH HELP. Thanks in advance. my motivation is only the motive = each appealing: the greater the motivation / fun to draw

It depends on your purpose from the very start. If the work is a commission, you can not afford to leave it undone on time. If the work is for killing time, most likely you welcome boredom and stop along the way then forget it. If the work is to feed your passion, you will always have the time to keep coming back to it and finish it to your heart's desire --drawing itself is the motivation and inspiration, let alone the will to improve your skill!

Well lately there seems to be none at all. My boring 'go nowhere' job is swamping me with a bummed-out feeling. Not to mention taking on the responsibility of taking care of my Mom who had a stroke a couple weeks ago...........

I need a hike in the park or maybe a couple days off already. Probably should be doing that instead of reformatting a laptop for a few bucks; but, I desperately need the money.

biggrin.gif Keep smiling - then sooner or later biggrin.gif I'll be drawing again.

Everyone is different when it comes to motivation though. If you know why your not motivated - it helps to over come it.
Simple suggestions:

Hike
Exercise
Get away for a breath of air outside the studio
Go to dinner at a really good restaurant
Spread gravy down the front of your new white shirt
A can of silly string is good...

Know thy self - the main key

I think we all feel this way or any way I do and staying in touch with others that have the same love of drawing etc helps me that is why I have found this site and others like it, I have made friends and I get inspiration from others who are on the same path as you are on..you are not alone. shadow2b

Thanks shadow. It's good to know that this dosnt happen to just me. Guess it would kinda be like writers block. I would also agree that this site and the people on here are great inspirations! Just by browsing the galleries of peoples art makes me want to draw. And of course people like you who give me their 2cents worth on the subject. Thanks again biggrin.gif

Mom is getting better, and the job is, 'the job' I guess. I was laid-off on December 1st last year. Took 8 months to get back to work (not in my field)- hope the economy improves soon so everyone can get an appropriate job in their specialties. That is a motivation killer, not being able to find work when everything depends on it.

I can't tell you how many drawings I've started and stopped mid-stream. Still, got to just keep plugging away at it and all will eventually flow again.

Add to my list:

Fresh water and exercise will get me energized. Music is always good as well - something soothing of course.

Good luck with the job situation.
