This lesson takes you step-by-step through the process of drawing an ellipse. You then use your ellipse drawing skills to render a drinking cup and a cookie jar.The ellipse is by far the most magical of all shapes. For example, ellipses can be added to the top and bottom of a straight sided shape to become a drinking cup.

I did Ok with this. The cookie jar is nice but more difficult than it appears (to get the proportions just right).

I'm not really sure of the point of this lession but I did it anyways. Way too easy to draw a proportional cup, doing the guide lines just makes it harder.

Thank you, Cindy. I enjoyed doing this lesson. However, when it came to the final step of erasing the rectangular guidelines, I found the area so cluttered with lines that it was hard for me not to also erase my "correct" curved lines. I ended up erasing practically all the lines and re-doing the ellipses in a free-hand way. I'm wondering if making all these guidelines is something that's recommended for just beginners or if even advanced artists typically draw this way....?
Much appreciated,
Monique

Once again thank you Brenda and also thank you Cindy!
I managed to do a *** and a jarr that actually are correct in perspective.
Perspective and proportions are essential to render realistic drawings and I know I have to work a looot on these skils.
A great 2010 to al of us!
