In an effort to keep the threads interesting lets make this a challenge. we can run it for a month and see if anyone is interested..it is an interesting way to practice your hand drawing skills and to be creative at the same time.
i guess the only rules are the image must be drawn; in any medium and your original work and we
must portray the hand as a prominent, totally unusual & unexpected ‘character’ in its environment. Show hands interacting w/that environment… passively, or actively.
here is a quick link for those who would like to learn to draw hands but there are lots more out there, just do a search and you will find them
draw handsand here is a neat art lesson site i thought was interesting for pros and beginners alike..also some examples of handscape art is here as well
hope you enjoy
handscapesdifferent lessontribal self portraiti think i may try this tribal one today...it looks like great fun!

elena thanks for the suggestion, we are lucky to have you here on drawspace

Hi, Kay. After visiting your link handscapes an idea came to me and I will make here my suggestion. Why don't you host a creativity challenge on the theme of handscapes in which all participants are invited to draw a scene from imagination departing from the drawing of a hand. All you have to do is to keep this thread but changing the title into: creativity challenge ...date....date. Subtitle handscapes theme. And in the first post to set the rules. I wouldn't do this kind of drawing on my own but I already thought of possible scenes with a hand and i guess it would be fun such a challenge. It is also very good reason to practice hand drawing. Optional you can provide some images of hands to help the beginners. All they have to do is to add and create a unique original drawing on that theme. What do you say?
What do you folks say about this idea?

great. I will start working on my idea. Thanks, Kay.

a quick one to get started...i should not have used these pencils for this for it has made it far too dramatic and i lost my original feel for the drawing..i will have to get my colored pencils back out for this challenge

I have no idea what this is doing on my paper..it is not ME...but now that it is there perhaps i can get on with my life now..

i have tried to change this a dozen times but this is what the lines want..and after a struggle i decided to just give the lines what they want and maybe they will go away..

Many hands - I have so many drawings of hands. We have an assignment in our art classes that covers hands in both blind contour and detail. They are great fun to draw and it is so nice to have your subject with you at all times!

Here are just a few of my hands sketches and one drawing I started as an example at school.

this one is called faith and represents the blessing gesture in the eastern orthodox church iconography. The miniature church is a sketch of the Curtea de Arges Monastery in Romania.
I plan to do a version of this in oil pastels.

Wow Barbara your hands are fabulous!!! Love the desert scene, but those trees are fantastic!
Elena, that tree that you want to do in CP is great & I can just see it coloured like one of those medieval tapestry trees - I have this picture of it in my mind so that I can already see the colours plus a little gilding!

WOW! I am quite hesitant to post my drawing.
You all are so talented and creative.
Since I could not get the word landscape out of my head, my simplified (in comparison) take on this was - hands create beautiful landscapes and gardens.
And this is what came out on the paper.
