Full Version: Image Size Limits?

It would be very helpful for those of us on dial-up to have a size limit for the images posted. Unfortunately, dsl is not available to us and satellite is very iffy (off as much as it's on) around here. Therefore some large images take up to 5 minutes to load and some really large images time-out before they're even half loaded.

If I'm the only one on slow dial-up, please disregard and go with the majority.

I know some people dont take any notice and post larger pictures but there is supposed to be a 200kb limit.

If that is the case, then it should definitely be restricted to 200kb "for real". People might be too lazy otherwise to cut down on them themselves.

Also, because it is now free to upload as much as you want, as the databases grow with pictures this restriction might come back because the free space on the server might start to shrink dramatically.
So if the files are kept small, I guess we can enjoy the "unlimited space" for longer?

This is for everyone

KEEP YOUR PICTURES AT 200KB

I can't say this loud enough. Those of us with Dial-up can't view your pictures if they are too big. They will either "time out" or will take forever to load up to view.

I personally will not even look at pictures that are too large. I will just view the thumbnail. So I really miss out on a lot of nice pictures. sad_an.gif

So PLEASE everyone - resize your pictures before posting them. They don't have to be exactly 200kb but they should be close to that. If you have trouble resizing them or just don't know how - just post a notice and someone will tell you how to do it.

Thank you from all of us poor dial-up artists. wink.gif wave.gif

I agree!
I have DSL, but if a picture is very large it is difficult to look at!

So there is another reason for the same thing.

If I have uploaded any that are too large I would appreciate it if some one told me.

I wasn't aware there was a size limit. I will keep this in mind for the future my apologies.

Well actually, if they are bigger than 200KB they will not be accepted in the gallery.... so that's another reason for keeping them small.
