Hi All My Friends,
I just wanted to appologize for not being around for the summer much. We have had a lot of things going on and life has gotten really busy.
In between all of the busy-ness we have also lost a very cherish family member this past week. Normally, I wouldn't talk about it unless it was to my close friends here, but this particular person was my father in law, and I wanted to share he believed that artist who were good we born with the tallent.
I taught him to draw, I personally took printed out lessons that Brenda provides for us, pencils, erasers and drawing pads over to him as well as other artist how to books and taught him to draw. Before he got to bad with his hands that shook uncontrolably (sorry for my bad spelling) he found I was right and with enough time and practice it could be accomplished. He learned all of this at 76 years of age.
So I guess my point is no matter how old or young you are, don't give up and if its what you want to do, then go at it full force. I think when things slow down over at my mother in laws home I will get his drawings and post them here to show all. He was a great supporter and teacher in the years I have been a member of his family and I know he would want me to do this to help others because of the person he was.

Venus, so sorry to hear of your loss. But the encouragement that we are never too old to learn something new is priceless.

My condolences on your loss, Venus; for your husband, and family as well.
That is a wonderful idea to share his drawing story with everyone here. It re-enforces what I tell my students everyday (soon to be doing that again, by the way. . . next Tuesday!) everyone can learn to draw, and it is what you do with it, as an expression from within, that makes you an artist.
God bless you and your family.

I'd like to add my condolences too Venus.
May your family recover from the grief quickly, but never lose the sense of the great man that he obviously was.
You are an amazing daughter-in-law and your love shines through in this story of a man who was not too proud to admit an error to his family (that is a sign of a truly big man). I would love to see some examples of the artist he became.

Venus, Dear, I too have not been around lately and just saw this note. It sounds like you added brightness and joy to your father-in law during his last years. May this bring you some comfort as you grieve his loss.
Many Blessings,
Judyvan

Thanks Everyone! I am just happy his suffering is over, though I do miss him. He had a great personality and really awesome sense of humor, he was definately one of a kind to be sure.
Hopefully, within the next week I can go and get his drawings from my mother in law and share with you all, I just don't want to bombard her with too much in her grieving time.

Hi Venus,
I'm very sorry for your loss.
I'm sure the time spent helping your father-in-law was equally rewarding to you. I would call that quality time. I am sure, over the years, you will sherish those moments.
