omg...would everyone please keep their fingers crossed for me..Katrina tore apart my home in new orleans...some of you may be familiar with that storm..

my aunt lost her store, and 5 of her mini poodles drowned..my father had just had surgery and wouldnt leave and was found in waist deep water after spending a week in it..which of course he had severe infections and ended up very near death..my mothers home was also lost along with many other poor souls..

the mayor ordered mandatory evacs and most ppl have fled..but this time again not my father..my stepmother just had open heart surgery and is home resting and he doesnt want to move her..so he gathered up his guns and is planning on staying there..IT IS HEADING RIGHT FOR HIM..i cant talk him out of it and neither can any of my siblings..

my mother also is not leaving..they both tell me that if its there time then so be it.they are old and dont want to start over again...they would rather die..

My thoughts are with you & yours Kay wub.gif

We had Larry here in North Queensland 2 years ago - catagory 5 - only 1 life lost (and that was from a heart attack) it flattened the town but we sent a whole heap of volunteers up there to clear the debris and then to help start the rebuild.

They are so erratic - I mean they can come right for you then turn back to sea. With a bit of luck, because the levees are now reinforced and virtually everyone is evacuating this time - it will pass without the damage. So often when you are prepared it never happens. Hold onto that thought and it just might be true!

Fingers crossed for them - and big hugs to keep you semi-sane through your worry wacko.gif . Old & stubborn is so hard to reason with when you are so far away.

I've heard it on the news, and did cross my mind if there was anyone there from drawspace. Keep your mind positive, and nothing wrong will happen wub.gif

I know its inevitable to be worried in such situations, but try to worry the less posible, you know worrying won't help them. Let's hope everything will be alright. My thoughts are with you and yours, Kay, big hugs to you.

I was hoping to check in and you said they had a change of heart and left, I do hope they will be safe and the whole area is spared. Will keep them and you in my thoughts, don't you hate it when your parents won't do whats best for them. Mine go to the doctor but then refuse to take their meds...

Big hugs to Kay!!!

oh thanks so much you guys too...it is down to a strong two, with 105 mph wnds so it has really slowed..all those lil storms/ and waterspouts are pretty destructive too..my sister lives in the baton rouge area and has lost power..new orleans has been out, i was able to talk to mom this morning but the connection was really bad..she is in the morgan city area..and since she has lost her phone..so now i feel better but am still a lil nervous bout it..

i was just thinking...i was told as a child that the flap of a butterflys wings could change wind currents and even cause storms..what if all the ppl down there just stood on the coast and BLEW really hard all in unison...perhaps they could blow it back out to sea... laugh.gif laugh.gif biggrin.gif

i know...im just being silly..but it was fun to think of..and envision..
Cyn
I sure hope you and your family are doing well. I hate high winds.. Storms like that are frightening.

The butterfly thing is the simple expanation for the "chaos theory". The butterfly effect, theorises that a change in something as harmless as a flap of a butterfly's wings, may cause unexpected larger changes in the future, such as a tornado. Sooo, I am willing to help you, and blow your weather all back out to sea. After all, some of us have been known to be full of hot air. laugh.gif tongue.gif laugh.gif

Big hugs to your folks for all their hutzpa (?sp) - they may be stubborn, but now that its almost all over I think that they really were very brave in sticking to what they decided - it could have turned out so very different, and thay knew that - that takes intestinal fortitude.

They are remarkable (if stubborn) people Kay.
Kaly
nice to know that they are all fine...I told you so wink.gif

I am glad to hear that it has worked out Kay!
