laugh.gif laugh.gif clara you are soooooo right...

here is my attempt at the eagle handler..i envy her,.. i would love to hold one of these beautiful creatures..i tried to put my own spin on her by making it more of a portrait which required a lil modification of pic..

she is 9x12 black and white charcoal on this wonderful orangy goldish honey colored paper..i love that color of that paper

This is really beautiful! Nice work Kay! Could you go into more detail regarding the paper you used? I bet it would work nicely for pastel too?

Regards
Gilbert

oliverandjazz
it is aquabee charcoal paper 64# (104 GSM)..excellent for all dry mediums with a really great selection of colors ..thanks very much for the wonderful compliments..
rjblanchette
Thanks for hosting Gilbert. I liked the viking helmet. It is always a challenge to try to get those smooth textures like bone and metal.

You have all done some very nice drawings.

Nice helmet drawing Kay. I liked the way you isolated it. And nice charcoal drawing too.
Brian I always like your style.
Nice presentation of that fine art Tammy.
Hi Carla, looks like Switzerland may not make it to the World Cup. Nice drawing.
Hi Riq, you really nailed those proportions.
Hi 1_8 your skills art getting better each time.

Thank you for encouragement, but your helmet is so lovely.
Kaly
RJ, wow that helmet looks beautiful, you are a very talented man wink.gif

Sorry that Switzerland may not make it to the World Cup. sad.gif Not sure Portugal will make it eigther unsure.gif we wone the first mach but lost the second! I really wanted Portugal to make it, cause the world cup is in South Africa, and I was born there so it would be nice to see Portugal play there!
Riq
Thank you RJ. Your proportions also seem to be very much in order. Particularly like your attention to detail and the inclusion of the background. tongue.gif Also seems that you nailed the smooth texture!

And here's my attempt at the viking helmet with charcoal. The lines may seem a bit sloppy/messy. I really need to consider experimenting with different size and textured paper about now. Not sure if I prefer this over the graphite drawing though.
oliverandjazz
another master piece mr blanchette.. your work is always mindblowing with detail...
riq i like it but i like the first one better..try blending your charcoal lines..use a qtip with charcoal for fine smoothness,or even a paper stump, i prefer qtip

thanks everyone

Hi all. This is my first post. Havn't been drawing much like this in the past year, I do tattoos so different art style.
I got motivated to really draw again so... heres my attempt using graphite. I'm better with charcoal but don't have any right now.
oliverandjazz
good work honey bee...and this ref. photo gilbert gave us does look like it just must be done in charcoal..i shall have to give it a go myself wink.gif
Riq
Nice one honey bee. If you say you're better with charcoal, I can't wait to see your charcoal work tongue.gif

Kay, will try a qtip next time. Thanks biggrin.gif

Kay,
Getting pretty fancy there, embellishing! Good for you, I agree, the statue did need a little something. Your idea is better than mine, I was thinking pasties? LOL j/k
Good job, are you going to put us all to shame and do all of the pictures in the challenge this week? LOL

Kaly
wow, lovely drawing!!!

Riq, nice work on the helmet with charcoal, I also prefer your first one, the lines are nice and clear. Charcoal is dificult to work with (well at least for me!!)

HoneyBee, nice work on the statue!

13thElement, well done helmet...I think we could start an invasion with all the helmets done in this challenge laugh.gif laugh.gif

Kay, no one can stop you girl.....I love that backgroung, and very clever of you to add those leafs wink.gif Love it!!
Riq
Kay, very nicely done on the statue. What size paper are you using there if I may ask?

13thElement. Very impressive. Glad you got over your creative block. smile.gif

Kaly, thanks smile.gif A think I just need to practice a bit more with precision with charcoal and it'll start to look a whole lot better!
oliverandjazz
thanks riq

these last few drawings are on 9x12

The statue is located as a sculputure at the Scarborough Renaissance Faire in Waxiehachie TX I don't know the artist. It just happened to be one of the pictures I took.

Glad you enjoyed the picture and great drawing.
