Hi Everyone,

This is my first post to this forum. It looks like it's OK for a newbie to just jump right in. So, here goes. This is a quick sketch of the rose. Hopefully I'll have more time this weekend to do a more finished drawing. Thanks for any comments. smile.gif

Update: Oops! I meant to post this in the Drawing Challenge #3 forum and I can't find a way to delete a message. Newbie panic.....ahhhh! blink.gif

Welcome to the forum, Jim. Yes, you can just jump in here. I lurked for a while before I got brave enough to post and now I'm almost a regular at it. laugh.gif
I love the rose. I checked it out in your gallery and it said you used a calligraphy pen on a little of it. Is that how you made it look kind of 3D? I love the look of the rose.

Hi Cyn,

Thanks for the encouragement. Yes, a calligraphy pen gives you a thick and thin line depending on the angle of the mark. I used it on the outline of the rose and it does have a kind of 3-D effect.
